Essential Functions

Seeking enthusiastic, technically savvy, and highly communicative TAs to join our next iteration of the freshmen BFA projects class, PRJ-1000!

Help lead the charge introducing 3D production in Unreal Engine 5. Because this is a new iteration of the same class from last year, hopeful candidates are those who have already taken and passed the previous PRJ-1000 course in the Spring 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. However, all students with basic Unreal Engine 5 knowledge and experience using Perforce P4V as a revision control solution are welcome to apply! This is a great opportunity to gain leadership experience in communication, art direction, and tech troubleshooting, and further reinforce your understanding of Unreal Engine and revision control foundations. Being flexible and learning while on the job is encouraged.

The course material is multi-faceted, with composition, graphic design, font, type, and color being art cornerstones of the class. Technical 3D production topics include collaborative revision control for small teams of three (3) contributors or less, environment blockout with simple primary shapes, level streaming, basic material creation, Sequencer camera techniques, and more. This is ultimately an introductory course for team-based assignments with an emphasis on collaboration and communication.

General expectations for a Teaching Assistant (TA) are to assist instructors in the classroom as requested. Responsibilities may include equipment setup and/or operation (e.g., running slide decks during lectures), facilitating and leading student presentations and feedback discussions, answering student questions during labs, grading assessments, submitting attendance sheets, and monitoring MS Teams channel broadcasts or recording. TAs are expected to assist with grading outside the classroom, meet regularly with the instructor, and may be required to meet with students outside class to answer questions as needed. Other duties as assigned by the instructor.

TAs will meet weekly with the instructor for performance feedback and duty modification and will receive a full evaluation once per semester.
