Role
Reporting to the VP of Operations, US, the Director of Apprenticeship and Training is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive training and apprenticeship programs within the organization. This role is crucial in developing a skilled workforce, fostering career growth, enhancing employee retention, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Director will collaborate with internal departments, educational institutions, and industry partners to cultivate talent, promote best practices in training, and support the professional development of employees across all levels.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a strategic apprenticeship and training program tailored to the needs of the organization and industry trends.
- Collaborate with HR and management to assess training needs and create training plans that support employee development and career paths.
- Establish partnerships with educational institutions, trade organizations, and industry associations to enhance training opportunities and career pathways.
- Ensure compliance with apprenticeship regulations, standards, and metrics, including the maintenance of documentation and reporting requirements.
- Design and deliver engaging and effective training modules, workshops, and seminars, leveraging both in-person and online platforms.
- Monitor and evaluate training outcomes, adjusting programs as necessary to ensure alignment with organizational goals and effectiveness in skill development.
- Provide mentorship and support to apprentices and trainees, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
- Lead a team of trainers and apprenticeship coordinators, fostering collaboration and team development.
- Promote safety and compliance in all training initiatives, ensuring that trainees understand and embrace safety protocols.
- Drive diversity and inclusion in training opportunities and apprenticeship programs to enhance workforce representation and engagement.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in training and professional development.
- Report on program impact and effectiveness to senior leadership, including key metrics to assess employee growth and retention.
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in workforce development, training, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- In-depth knowledge of apprenticeship programs, adult learning principles, and training methodologies.
- Experience in developing training programs within the electrical or utility sector is preferred.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a focus on collaboration and team development.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Proven ability to build relationships with industry partners and educational institutions.
- Experience with instructional design and experience in e-learning platforms is a plus.
- Strong analytical and evaluation skills, with the ability to assess program effectiveness.
