Introduction to Search for Common Ground
Search for Common Ground (“Search”) is the world's largest dedicated peacebuilding organization. Founded in 1982, Search has a 40-year track record of transforming the way the world deals with conflict, away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. Search does this through a type of peacebuilding called “conflict transformation.” It shifts everyday interactions between hostile groups of people, so they can work together to build up their community, choosing joint problem-solving over violent means.
Search works to prevent and end violent conflict before, during, and after a crisis, striving to build sustainable peace for generations to come. With a total of approximately 700 staƯ worldwide, Search implements projects in 35 countries. Search's headquarters are in Washington, D.C., and Brussels. Search is a trusted 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the United States and an international non profit organization (AISBL) registered in Belgium. We receive funding from a variety of sources, including:
Foundations and non-profits: SFCG has received funding from over 65 foundations and non-profit organizations.
Governments: SFCG has received funding from 14 governments.
Multilateral institutions: SFCG has received funding from 15 multilateral institutions.
UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund OƯice: SFCG participates in pooled funds that bring together UN entities and public and private sector partners.
Donations: Individuals can donate to SFCG through direct bank withdrawal, donor-advised funds, employer match, or wire transfer.
Per Charity Navigator, the "Search for Common Ground" organization has a program expense ratio of approximately 91.8% which means that a large majority of their expenses are directly dedicated to their programs, indicating a high level of eƯiciency in utilizing funds for their stated mission.
