Director of IT & Security

Are you an IT and security leader who loves tackling complex problems, is undaunted by SOC2, ISO27001, and ITAR, and wants to play a pivotal role in making our scale-up company a better (and more secure) place? If so, you might be the perfect fit for Seeq as our new Director of IT & Security. At Seeq, we’ve been fully remote since before it was cool—over 11 years! We’re a dynamic group of passionate problem-solvers, tech geeks, and fun-loving humans from around the globe. Together, we’re on a mission to tackle the industrial manufacturing world's biggest challenges while doubling the size of our company over the next few years. And we need your help navigating our IT and security operations into this exciting future.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

  • Lead IT & Security Strategy: Define and execute comprehensive IT and security strategies that align with Seeq’s long-term goals, ensuring robust, efficient, and scalable operations.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with leadership and stakeholders across departments to optimize system performance, reliability, and solution delivery.
  • External Face of Security: Manage customer security questionnaires and security audit responses and ensure alignment with customer expectations in cooperation with cross-departmental teams, such as compliance.
  • Internal Face of Security: As the chair of Seeq’s Security Steering Committee, you will lead efforts to continuously improve product security practices, including managing vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, while advocating for robust security and compliance controls throughout the software development life cycle. By training and influencing your colleagues, you’ll foster a culture where security best practices are seamlessly integrated into daily workflows, ensuring a proactive and secure approach across the organization.
  • Support Risk and Compliance Programs: Serve as the go-to expert on security and IT infrastructure, balancing risk management with business needs. Support compliance efforts such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and potential ITAR requirements.
  • Direct IT Operations: Oversee the IT team’s day-to-day management of IT systems, infrastructure, and processes to ensure high performance and reliability.
  • Develop Policies and Standards: Formalize IT policies, standards, and practices that safeguard company resources while meeting industry compliance standards.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee the evaluation, selection, and management of IT vendors and service providers, including conducting necessary security reviews.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Enhancing IT systems, processes, and team capabilities to keep pace with evolving technology and business needs.
  • People Leader: Empower the IT team by fostering trust, providing clear direction, supporting growth, and creating an environment where individuals feel valued, motivated, and aligned with organizational goals.
  • Budget Oversight: Plan and manage the IT department’s budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost optimization.

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 6+ years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles, with a strong background in information security and industrial technology.
  • Experience in people management or team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, networks, and security; specific knowledge of industrial enterprise architectures (Purdue Model) is highly desirable.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, HITRUST, or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • Proven experience administering and providing support for Office 365, Entra ID, SharePoint, Zoom, Slack, Atlassian Suite, and other enterprise IT technologies, as well as a broad range of end-user devices running Windows, MacOS, Linux, iOS, and Android.
  • Proven experience with the establishment and documentation of compliance standards such as SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and ideally ITAR.
  • Skilled in the governance and administration of Zero Trust and remote or virtual work environments.
