The Business Analyst will play a pivotal role in defining, implementing, and analyzing business metrics to help retailers fully leverage the benefits of Simbe’s services. This role will involve close collaboration with our Strategy, Sales, and Product Management teams to enhance customer-facing metrics while also empowering internal teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. Additionally, this role will support data-related onboarding needs of new customers. The ideal candidate will bring exceptional SQL skills, a proven ability to transform raw data into actionable insights, and a deep understanding of retail store operations.
Responsibilities- Business Metric Development: Leverage Simbe data to develop and visualize actionable metrics that enhance operational efficiency and decision-making across multiple levels of a retailer’s organization. This will require understanding the needs of each user persona that interacts with our application in order to develop the most impactful metrics.
- Business Analytics: Partner with commercial teams to quantify and explain the value of Simbe’s service to customers using existing business metrics. This will include crafting clear, interpretable dashboards and suggesting concrete ways retailers can adjust operations to improve their bottom line.
- Serve Data: Enhance the value of reports and notifications sent to store associates, store managers, and purchasing managers. Identify opportunities to make reports more actionable and impactful by analyzing store-level feedback and creating new types of reports.
- Support Customers: The Business Analyst assists with onboarding new customers by gaining a clear understanding of how their data feed maps to store conditions and how their data integrates with Simbe’s services. This role also involves support for auditing and debugging data-related issues, whether raised by customers or identified internally.
Qualifications- Technical Qualifications: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in an analytical field is highly recommended but notrequired. The ideal candidate will have at 3+ years of experience writing reliableSQL transformations and working with business intelligence (BI) tools such as Tableauor Looker. Familiarity with data warehouses is essential, and specific experience withBigQuery and dbt is considered a strong advantage.
- Experience & Abilities: The ideal candidate must have the ability to transform complex raw data into reliable and actionable metrics, demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and a willingness to quickly learn new software tools as needed. Strong experience working with data related to physical retailers, brands, or store operations is essential, as is expertise in data storytelling. The candidate should be adept at using data to guide and influence business decisions, providing insights that drive meaningful improvements in operations and strategy. In addition, the candidate should be capable of balancing multiple projects running in parallel while maintaining strong attention to detail.
- Soft Skills: Candidates should have excellent communication skills to effectively convey insights across cross-functional teams and external customers. An ideal candidate is autonomous and independent, exhibiting a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Additionally, they must be able to evangelize their work across the organization, ensuring alignment and consistent adoption of new offerings.
$120,000 - $135,000 a year
The base salary offered is based on market location, and may vary further depending on individualized factors for job candidates, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including equity compensation, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
