The Quality Inspector effectively performs all inspections with limited supervision. This level also requires troubleshooting and math skills necessary to perform his/her duties.
Under the direction of Immediate Supervisor, performs first piece, in process, and final inspection on a variety of parts.
Required to work to a dimensional tolerance as small as .0005”.
Reads and interprets dimensional, manufacturing engineering, and process drawings in order to make dimensional and surface checks of angles, holes, hold spacing, contours, tapers, bores diameters, threads, radii, forms, bearing surfaces, and points of intersection.
Utilizes precision measuring devices such as inside, outside, and depth micrometers, vernier calipers, electronic gauges, comparators, and hardness testers.
Should understand the basic programming and operation of programmable inspection instruments such as a coordinate measuring machine.
Prepares shippers and package inspected parts for shipment at other locations or outside service as required.
Performs prescribed material conformance tests for material identification as required. Instructs and assists other inspectors.
May perform Nuclear-Aircraft-Government (NAG) inspection after fulfilling internal qualification requirements.
Performs duties in accordance with company safety policies.
Reports unsafe conditions.
Completes proper labor and time reports.
Must have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational/ Technical Certification preferred.
Ability to understand and solve technical problems.
Must have a basic understanding of computer operation, medium to advance mathematics, and SPC methodology.
Minimum two years of previous inspection related experience or subordinate work experience required.
