As an Outreach and Programs Manager on our Americans for Prosperity's State Government Affairs team you will build and drive the internal and external recruitment and relationship management for our Capitol Leaders programs as well as other professional development programming for staff and state advocacy partners.
How You Will Contribute- In collaboration with the state government affairs team and state chapter leadership, identify and recruit lawmakers to partner with to help them drive principled policy change at the state level
- Manage timelines, organization and content of our state government affairs internal lobbying trainings
- Develop short and long-term recruiting and retention strategies for our programs
- Leverage existing and develop new relationships with current and former state government officials and staffers to advance community priorities
- Provide ongoing liaison and resource support to the government affairs team, brand managers, and communications team
- Identify speakers and facilitators for our programming
- Provide ongoing liaison and resource support services to AFP state teams, coalition partners and elected officials
- Monitor, research and analyze state legislative and regulatory trends that impact our policy initiatives. Track pending legislation and mitigate as needed with our state teams
- Management of Capitol Leaders program
What You Will Bring- Event planning and/or Program development experience
- 3+ years of State level lobbying experience
- Passion for and knowledge of state policy and political landscapes and ability to continually expand policy knowledge
- Proven experience in the development of government affairs strategies and a willingness to share and develop government affairs best practices and knowledge through internal and external trainings
- Customer-focused attitude and willingness to partner with and advise AFP government affairs professionals
- Self-starter mentality with the ability to own and lead project development and management
- Ability to work in a collaborative, and sometimes fast-paced, environment with various stakeholders to build effective public facing strategies - prioritize and use various communication tools and programming to advance strategies
- Strong communication, analytical, research, problem-solving and presentation skills
- Excited by and ready to contribute to our Culture - Integrity, humility and a principle-based entrepreneurial attitude are integral
- Travel 35-50% of the time

For this position we anticipate paying +/- $95,000 annually. Actual amount may be higher or lower based on various factors such as a candidate’s relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
