Pay Range: $65,563 - $85,232 annual compensation

An EMS Training Coordinator job is available with the City of Fort Worth Fire Department Emergency Services Training Division. This position coordinates, develops, and manages Emergency Medical Services (EMS) training programs, ensuring curriculum alignment with state and national standards. Oversees program effectiveness through performance metrics, evaluations, and compliance monitoring. Prepares curriculum, tracks certification and training data, and produces statistical reports to support continuous improvement and operational readiness in pre-hospital care delivery.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration, business administration, sociology, psychology, social work or related field.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of administrative, fiscal, and/or social welfare, community agency, or program management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and codes related to Emergency Medical Services (EMS) certification and licensure.
  • Strong ability to design curriculum and communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats.
  • Proficient in using computers and software applications, including Microsoft Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS).

The EMS Training Coordinator job responsibilities include:

  • Develops curriculum for EMS training staff, to facilitate train-the-trainer education, and ensuring adherence to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Oversees the development, delivery, and evaluation of EMS training programs, ensuring alignment with department goals and compliance with state and national certification standards.
  • Audits and monitors EMS program compliance, including contracts, certifications, and reporting requirements, ensuring all training activities meet regulatory standards.
  • Tracks and reconciles EMS certification and training records, maintaining accurate records and supporting effective internal and external audits.
  • Contributes to budget development and management for EMS education programs, forecasting staffing and equipment needs, and adjusting expenditures as necessary.
  • Prepares detailed reports, data visualizations, and presentations for senior leadership, and external stakeholders to support transparency and accountability.
  • Coordinates and participates in department and regional meetings, developing and delivering presentations related to EMS education initiatives and performance outcomes.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in the class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.

The successful applicant for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.  Due to CJIS requirements related to system access, the following will result in being disqualified for this position:  Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A Misdemeanor Conviction, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions in the last 10 years, Class A Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication in the last 10 years, an Open Arrest for any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and ALL Family Violence Convictions regardless of class.

Physical Demands

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions it this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
