Job Description

Third Wave Automation is looking for a Sr. Full Stack SWE to help develop our Shared Autonomy platform and robot fleet services. This is a full-stack role with an emphasis on backend services.

You will work closely with our frontend and robotics teams to define, develop, test, and deploy services that support our robot fleets, give our operators a seamless experience, and use data to drive operational excellence for our customers. Some examples of systems you may work on include: controlling and visualizing the robots and goods within a warehouse, streaming video and other sensor data, remote-operation capabilities, distributed system orchestration, and performance analysis of the robots and the system as a whole.

Desired Qualifications

• 7 - 10 years of experience building clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Strong experience in backend development in Python (particularly asyncio)
• Strong experience in REST, gRPC, and MQTT.
• Strong experience with Postgres and MongoDB.
• Strong experience with modern software engineering practice, including code review, version control, testing, and continuous integration.
• Experience with Kubernetes.
• Experience with TypeScript (particularly React and Redux).
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and documentation skills.

Bonus Points For 

• Experience with data streaming (WebSocket), video streaming (WebRTC), and network performance tuning.
• Experience with Helm.
• Experience with Bazel.
• Experience with ROS or similar pubsub systems.
• Experience in Robotics.
• Being located near Union City, California.

The pay range for this position is a national range $150,000 - $200,000/yr+ benefits+equity; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  Base pay information is based on market location.
