The Role
Unite America is looking for bright, game-changing interns who are passionate about reforming our broken politics. We are looking for current students to join our team from a variety of academic disciplines. Work side-by-side with our dynamic staff and learn from those on the front lines of the movement to bridge the partisan divide. Through the course of the internship, the Press Intern will learn the basics of how to engage members of the media on election reform, how to drive a consistent message, and help the organization engage young voters.
We’re currently seeking an intern to join our Communications Team and support the Press Director for Spring 2025 and Summer 2025 for an average of 10-15 hours per week, with flexibility on when those hours may occur. Candidates can apply for either time period, with a preference for candidates who can do both. Interns are welcome, but not required, to be Denver-based. Preference will be given to summer interns able to work from our Denver office at least two days per week.
Unite America's Communications Team is part of the organization’s Program Functional Area, which supports political reform campaigns at the local, state, and federal level; engages in movement building activities and grantmaking; and conducts research on the status and impact of political reforms.
Responsibilities
Interns should have a strong interest in political reform and should excel at data collection, research, writing, and analysis. Background in political science or campaigns is a major plus.

The Perks
Our Organization
Unite America is a non-partisan, philanthropic venture fund (composed of several legal entities) that invests in candidates, campaigns, and organizations in order to advance nonpartisan election reforms that will foster a more representative and functional government capable of solving America’s most pressing challenges.
Founded in 2014, Unite America and its 30+ person team has grown to be a leader in the democracy reform movement. The organization has existed in its current form, and with its current primary focus, since 2019; in that time, we have successfully mobilized tens of millions of dollars from scores of philanthropists to candidates and reform campaigns across the country. In 2024, Unite America had a $60M budget across its core operations ($11M) and regranting portfolio ($49M).
Recent victories where we played a leading or a major supporting role to win: a major anti-gerrymandering campaign in Virginia; a first-of-its-kind,top-four nonpartisan primary system in Alaska that helped elect one of the most ideologically diverse slate of statewide officeholders in recent history; and a ballot initiative in Nevada to implement Alaska-style reforms in that state. We are poised to dramatically scale our impact in the years to come.
