Located in Baltimore’s cultural center near the historic Mount Vernon neighborhood, UMMC Midtown Campus is a 180-bed, community teaching hospital with a focus on helping people manage chronic diseases, including diabetes, hypertension, pulmonary conditions, and infectious diseases..

We are seeking a PRN (as needed) Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our surgical team in Baltimore. In this role, you will provide skilled nursing care in our state-of-the-art operating room, ensuring optimal patient outcomes through expert perioperative care.

• Function as both a scrub nurse and primarily as a circulating nurse during surgical procedures
• Prepare operating room for scheduled surgeries, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available
• Maintain sterile field and assist surgical team during procedures
• Monitor patient condition throughout surgical procedures
• Coordinate with surgical team members to ensure efficient room turnover
• Document patient care using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Respond to emergency situations following established protocols
• Participate in surgical counts and specimen handling
• Assist in the orientation of new staff members
• Ensure compliance with all safety and infection control protocols

• Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Maryland
• Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience
• Current BLS certifications
• CNOR certification preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency in both scrub and primarily in circulating roles
• Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and instruments
• Experience with electronic medical records systems (EPIC)
• Excellent sterile technique and infection control practices
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to respond effectively in emergency situations
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift/move equipment
• Flexibility to work varying shifts as needed (PRN basis)
