Vasion is looking for a Director of Content Strategy to lead and execute a bold strategic vision for content marketing and campaign communications at Vasion. This leader will create compelling, creative storytelling that sets market-defining brand awareness, fuels integrated campaigns, engages prospects, and nurtures leads through the marketing funnel. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of leading teams, innovative content marketing, creative content development, killer short form copywriting, video production, and strategic campaign communications. They will lead a team of content creators, cross-collaborate across multiple functions, refine and evangelize our message, and build a machine for growth.
Success in this role requires expertise developing content strategies for executing full-funnel campaigns, including thought leadership and demand generation, understanding go-to-market strategies for technical products, and mentoring teams to produce truly excellent creative content. A deep understanding of creative storytelling, content creation and distribution, relationship building, product marketing, and aligning content strategy with business goals is essential, as is the ability to inspire great work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a comprehensive content marketing strategy aligned with business objectives with an emphasis on translating complex technical concepts into clear, engaging content and copy through creative storytelling for our audiences.
- Lead a team of content writers, copywriters, operations, and communications specialists, to focus on creating, atomizing, and deploying content that effectively conveys complex product information through engaging, story-driven narratives.
- Lead content development for integrated marketing campaigns, targeted to our audiences, ensuring messaging consistency, accurate technical details, and ace storytelling across all channels (website, email, social media, paid media, etc.) and in the format that will deliver results.
- Oversee the development of creative content with cross-functional collaborators, including video scripts, copy, and interactive media, ensuring storytelling techniques are applied to make content engaging, memorable, relevant, and un-boring to target audiences.
- Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to team members to enhance their understanding of content marketing, campaign building, and technical products, so they understand excellent work.
- Partner with demand generation and product marketing teams to produce content that speaks to both high-level executives and technical decision-makers, using narratives that cater to their unique needs and challenges, is technically accurate, and reflects our value props.
- Support product launches and go-to-market efforts with consistent and compelling content that tells a clear, impactful story about the value and benefits of the company’s technical products.
- Work closely with customer marketing, product marketing, revenue, and customer success teams to ensure content aligns with customer needs, product strategies, sales and broader storytelling efforts.
- Source and collaborate with SMEs across the organization to ensure technical accuracy while maintaining creative and compelling storytelling in all content.
- Manage a team of freelance writers and external agencies, ensuring that all third-party content aligns with the company’s messaging and storytelling goals.
- Establish OKRs with KPIs to measure the success of content, track and report on the performance of all content and communications efforts, set and use analytics to provide insights into content efficacy, lead generation, and conversion rates.
- Ensure consistency in brand voice and messaging across all content formats, while maintaining a focus on creativity and user engagement through storytelling.
- Manage A/B testing and optimization efforts for creative content, ensuring it performs well in driving conversions and engagement, especially for technical audiences.
- Maintain budgets, manage freelance and external agencies, track against usage.
- Proven experience developing and managing content strategies for technical products in a B2B or SaaS environment, with a focus on creative storytelling.
- Leadering and mentoring content and communications teams, with a focus on developing content writers and copywriters who understand the balance of marketing technical products and producing solid creative.
- Deep knowledge of how to translate technical product features into messaging and constructing compelling narratives that enhance technical content and drive audience engagement, and how to bring those narratives to market.
- Experience in developing a variety of content formats, including blogs, white papers, ad copy, product collateral, video, and multimedia content, using storytelling as a core component; you know what good looks like and you know how to get it.
- Strong understanding of how to optimize content for SEO, conversion, and user experience.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, history or a related field
- 10-12+ years of experience in content marketing, marketing, communications, advertising, or product marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in B2B marketing and technical products, ideally in SaaS organizations, with a strong understanding of how to engage technical buyers and decision-makers through storytelling.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear, compelling, story-driven messaging.
- Must be expert in the content development process and content lifecycle management.
- Seasoned product launch veteran.
- Expertise with the content management eco systems: content management systems (CMS), DAMs, marketing automation platforms, and leveraging analytics tools for insights.
Preferred:
- Proven experience working closely with product marketing teams and technical subject matter experts, understanding of IT as an audience.
