Job Description

Position Purpose:  
Manages the business and technical activities of the assigned area. Responsibilities may include several of the
following: accounting, budgeting, installing financial controls, assisting in the assessment of technology and
training needs, preparing technical reports and proposal documents, ensuring customer and regulatory
satisfaction, and evaluating and establishing efficient and effective work processes for location(s) within the
assigned area.

Primary Duties /Responsibilities: 

Financial

  • Monitors department financial performance including compliance to cost center budget, personnel utilization, pricing, customer invoicing and collections.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and counsels team when corrections or improvements are needed.
  • Prepares monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Leads Preparation of Annual Budget
  • Provides Management Tools to Ensure that Project Meets or Exceeds Plan
  • Controls or Reports Monthly Budget Variances
  • Ensures Timely Collection of Receivables

Account Management / Contract Management

  • A complete understanding of the agreement is necessary to ensure that all contractual deliverables are met.
  • Oversees the development of contractually required submittals, reviews documents for satisfactory content, arranges for on-time submittal to client, and maintains a document control system over all submittals.
  • Notifies responsible parties of required plans, reports and updates; reviews content against requirements, assists in the organization and format, takes receipt and performs the actual submittal to the client.
  • Solicits Customer and Staff input to gain an intimate understanding of customer needs, problems and systems in order to provide a complete solution, to improve levels of satisfaction, to identify need for and implement corrective actions and to evaluate and develop new business opportunities.
  • Interprets Contract to Define Deliverables
  • Conducts meetings, assign tasks, set deadlines and track progress.
  • Ensures that information is compiled in an efficient and accurate manner to ensure that customer requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Automates processes where possible and ensures that historical data is captured and utilized for future quotes where appropriate.
  • Fulfills Deliverable Schedule

Procurement

  • Manages procurement and warehouse function.
  • Leverages Area Resources to Maximize Purchasing Power
  • Ensures compliance with SWMBE goals
  • Ensures Compliance with Legal Requirements and Company Policy
  • Identifies and Justifies Capital Expenditures Using the CAR Process

Human Resources and Training

  • In concert with the regional HR partner, lead the HR effort for over 50 employees.
  • Ensure that a succession plan is established to sustain a trained workforce.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Promotes and Models Safety Culture
  • Promotes Project Compliance and adherence to OSHA, State and Veolia Safety and Environmental Programs
  • Provides training to managers on technical and business related topics to improve project performance. Conducts meetings with client regulatory officials for project stability and compliance.

Work Environment:

  • Spends 70% time in an office environment and 30% in plants and field.

Possible Work Hazards:

  • May be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, chemicals and temperature extremes when visiting facilities.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

  •  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Seven to ten years of progressive supervisory and management experience in a related business or technical field.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with an understanding of Human Resources / Relations principles in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environmental and Facilities/ Capital Equipment Management.
  • Developed strategic and business planning and financial management skills including budget, forecasting and cost control.
  • Successful record with contract negotiations, multi-site interfaces, commercial management of contracts and sustained customer and regulatory satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and solutions, team building (motivating all levels of personnel), technical writing and total quality management.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • Must be effective in building partnerships and relationships with customers and be able to modify communication and presentation style in order to relate to a variety of people and personalities.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills: written, verbal, listening and presentation and show the ability to recognize and handle sensitive communications internally and with all levels of customers and suppliers.
  • Must have a proven track record of successfully delivering excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Must be outgoing, self-directed, goal oriented and creative to be able to identify and maximize opportunities.
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, judgment and resourcefulness with the ability to find creative solutions and options to multi-faceted and/or time sensitive problems, to deal with numerous and changing priorities and to proactively address issues relating to personal, capital, margin enhancement, facilities, processes and profitability of assigned area.
  • Demonstrates commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
