Washburn Center for Children is a leading children’s mental health center, caring for a wide variety of children’s needs associated with anxiety, depression, behavioral difficulties and trauma.

 

The 141-year-old nonprofit offers critical mental health intervention to help children - and their families - realize hope. Washburn Center for Children serves almost 4,000 children ages 0-18 and approximately 9,000 family members each year. Washburn Center’s three office locations – Brooklyn Park, Edina, and Minneapolis – serve the entire Twin Cities metro area. The nonprofit also offers in-home services, and its school-based program serves 50+ schools in the Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Minneapolis, Savage, Burnsville and Eagan school districts.

The HR Data and Process Lead will serve as a key contributor to the Human Resources team, ensuring data accuracy, process efficiency, and compliance through robust HR technology management and policy alignment. This position will also lead the maintenance, mapping, and updating of HR policies to align with organizational practices, legal standards, and operational needs.


Key Responsibilities


HR Data Management:

· Maintain the integrity and accuracy of employee data across HR systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS, and payroll platforms).

· Develop and implement data validation procedures to ensure accuracy and consistency.

· Generate and analyze HR reports to support strategic decision-making, including workforce analytics, turnover trends, and compliance metrics.

· Oversight for HR technology identification, enhancement and implementation in partnership with Information technology team


 Process Improvement:

· Evaluate and enhance HR processes to improve efficiency, compliance, and employee experience.

· Lead the development and implementation of standardized workflows for core HR functions such as onboarding, offboarding, and performance management.

· Collaborate with HR and organizational leadership to streamline operations and adopt best practices.


HR Policy Maintenance and Mapping:

· Oversee the regular review and maintenance of HR policies to ensure alignment with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as organizational goals.

· Map HR policies and processes to identify gaps, redundancies, or inconsistencies and recommend improvements.

· Serve as the custodian of the HR policy/employee handbook, ensuring policies are up-to-date, accessible, and effectively communicated to employees.

· Collaborate with legal counsel and compliance team to ensure that all policies meet regulatory requirements.


 HR Systems Optimization:

· Serve as the HR systems expert, ensuring optimal use of technology and tools to meet organizational needs.

· Collaborate with IT and vendors to resolve technical issues and implement system updates.

· Train HR team members and managers on system usage and best practices.


Compliance and Reporting:

· Ensure data, processes, and policies comply with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

· Manage the preparation and submission of required compliance reports (e.g., EEO-1, ACA).

· Safeguard sensitive employee data, adhering to confidentiality and data protection standards.


Collaboration and Support:

· Partner with HR team members to align data, processes, and policies with organizational goals.

· Support HR initiatives with data insights, streamlined processes, and clear policy frameworks.

· Act as a resource for employees and managers regarding HR technology, processes, and policy interpretation.

· Administer and interpret employee surveys


Qualifications


Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.

· 4+ years of experience in HR operations, data management, policy maintenance, or a related role, preferably in a non-profit setting.

· Proficiency in HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday) and strong Excel skills.


Skills and Competencies:

· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights.

· Proven ability to improve processes, optimize the use of HR systems, and maintain policy integrity.

· Knowledge of employment laws and HR compliance requirements.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence stakeholders at all levels.

· Highly detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.


$65,000 - $85,000 a year

BENEFITS at WASHBURN:

 

Washburn offers benefits to Full-Time benefit eligible employees comprehensive Dental, Vision, Health, Life and Long-term disability insurance.  Additionally, we offer a 403b retirement plan and a flexible benefit option (FSA). 

 

Vacation:  Paid Vacation accrues at 10 hours of vacation per month - up to 15 days / 120 hours annually.

Sick Leave:  Paid sick leave accrues at 6.68 hours of sick per month - up to 10 days / 80 hours.

Holidays:  There are 2.5 days/20 hours of floating holidays per year in addition to the eight standard holidays.

 

***Please note that Internships, Part-Time (less than 30 hours/week) and Temporary positions are NOT eligible for all of Washburn Center's benefits***
