Director, Programmatic (Entertainment)

The Role


We are looking for a Programmatic Director to lead and mentor a team of two Programmatic Managers, driving the strategic vision and execution of all programmatic advertising campaigns. This role requires deep expertise in the programmatic landscape, a passion for innovation, and the leadership skills to inspire and develop a high-performing team. This individual will be responsible for ensuring programmatic best practices are implemented across all campaigns, maximizing performance and delivering exceptional results for our clients.


To be successful in this role, this person needs to have a comprehensive understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, including DSPs, SSPs, data providers, and ad exchanges. They must possess a data-driven approach, a strong understanding of measurement and optimization techniques, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights. The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $117,000 - $137,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.


This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.


*This role is a hybrid in-office position (You will need to commute into the client's Los Angeles office 1x a week)

You Will Be
  • Developing and implementing the overall programmatic strategy, aligning with client objectives and KPIs.
  • Leading and mentoring a team of two Programmatic Managers, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Ensuring programmatic best practices are implemented across all campaigns, including campaign setup, targeting, optimization, and reporting.
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest programmatic trends, technologies, and best practices, sharing knowledge and insights with the team.
  • Overseeing the selection and evaluation of programmatic technology partners, including DSPs, SSPs, and data providers.
  • Developing and implementing a robust measurement framework to accurately assess the performance of programmatic campaigns and demonstrate ROI.
  • Collaborating with other teams, including media planning, creative, and analytics, to ensure seamless integration of programmatic efforts.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with key programmatic partners, including publishers, data providers, and technology vendors.
  • Identifying and evaluating new programmatic opportunities and technologies to drive innovation and improve campaign performance.
  • Presenting strategic recommendations and performance reports to clients, clearly articulating the value and impact of programmatic campaigns.
  • Managing the programmatic budget effectively, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Driving continuous improvement in programmatic campaign performance through rigorous testing and optimization.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving complex programmatic issues.


You Must Have
  • 7+ years of directly related experience in programmatic advertising, including 3+ years of experience managing a team.
  • Deep expertise in the programmatic landscape, including DSPs, SSPs, ad exchanges, data providers, and targeting methodologies.
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful programmatic strategies that deliver measurable results.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis, reporting, and optimization of programmatic campaigns.
  • Excellent understanding of programmatic measurement and attribution methodologies.
  • Experience in managing and mentoring a team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.  
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with programmatic partners.
  • Proactive and results-oriented approach, with a passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with various programmatic platforms and technologies.
