Role Description

We are seeking an experienced and driven Product Owner for Fraud Strategy to join our product team. This is a hybrid role that requires a strategic mindset coupled with a hands-on approach to technical execution. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and delivering a robust fraud prevention and mitigation framework, working across all of Allica’s transactional banking products and systems. This role will lead a dedicated squad of engineers, supported by project management, and collaborate closely with data science teams, product tribes and other cross-functional stakeholders to protect our customers and business from current and emerging fraud risks.

 

Principal Accountabilities

  • Define and implement a comprehensive fraud strategy across transactional banking products, focusing on account takeover and Authorized Push Payment (APP) fraud

  • Ensure the strategy addresses the full spectrum of fraud risks, including internal fraud

  • Anticipate emerging fraud threats, incorporating proactive measures and innovative protections

  • Collaborate with dedicated engineers and data scientists to develop, test, and deploy fraud detection and prevention tools and systems

  • Utilize data analytics and machine learning to identify fraud patterns and continuously improve fraud defenses

  • Partner with product owners to ensure fraud solutions are seamlessly integrated into each applicable customer journey

  • Work with compliance, legal, and risk teams to align fraud strategies with regulatory requirements and industry best practices

  • Evaluate and onboard vendors offering fraud prevention technologies or solutions, if required

  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership, providing updates on fraud trends, strategy execution, and impact metrics

  • Stay informed about industry developments, new fraud typologies, and emerging regulatory changes

  • Develop strategies to address upcoming challenges and leverage opportunities presented by advancements in fraud prevention technologies

Personal Attributes & Experience

  • Proven experience in fraud strategy, prevention, and management within transactional banking or fintech

  • Strong knowledge of APIs, integrations, and fraud ecosystem

  • Technical proficiency in working with engineers and data scientists to design and implement fraud detection systems

  • Strong understanding of fraud typologies, particularly account takeover and APP fraud, with exposure to internal fraud and broader fraud categories

  • Familiarity with relevant regulations, industry standards, and fraud prevention tools and vendors

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data to inform strategy and execution

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels

  • Proactive, innovative, and solution-oriented approach to tackling complex challenges

  • Decisive and assertive, resolving issues within the team make meaningful decisions quickly

  • Experience in a fast-moving or high-growth business  

  • Experience in working with/leading product/engineering teams, with experience in Agile methodologies
