We’re looking for an experienced professional to lead our finance team and help continue to grow the finance and accounting functions to provide timely and actionable insights to the company. You will help us evolve and grow our processes and systems, touching on every aspect of financial planning & analysis, accounting, treasury, and compliance.
Reporting directly to our Co-CEO, this role will oversee all finance and accounting functions and has the potential to grow into a broader leadership role. You will collaborate across the organization and position the finance function as a key business partner. You will have room to get creative and make a lasting impact on the business.
This is an opportunity to join a growing team in a growing organization at a pivotal moment. You will work out of our New York City office at least 3 days per week.
You will:- Own the company’s operating financial model and be responsible ensuring accurate reporting of actual financial and operating performance
- Update the operating model at regular intervals to ensure that the company is accurately planning its business operations
- Develop insightful management financial reporting that’s valuable in the decision-making process.
- Manage the day-to-day activities of the general accounting department and ensure that all major projects not limited to month-end close, annual audit, and year end reporting are completed accurately and timely
- Manage the company’s cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for operations and growth initiatives
- Get involved in AP, maintain clean balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure compliance with state and local taxes
- Maintain a clean set of GAAP financial statements through data analysis, document preparation, integrity validation, and reconciliation processes
- Dig into tax and other compliance matters and keep us compliant in all jurisdictions where we operate
- Own relationships with banks, external auditors and tax accountants
- Research technical accounting issues and prepare memos documenting compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
The ideal candidate:- Has 10-12+ years of work experience in accounting and FP&A with demonstrated growth in responsibilities. 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred, but not required.
- Has solid knowledge of GAAP and understanding of financial statements
- Has experience managing physical inventory
- Has expertise in financial modeling with extensive experience architecting integrated models from scratch
- Has a strong executive presence and interpersonal skills with proficiency in distilling complex business information into consumable and actionable takeaways
- Demonstrates problem solving expertise with a proven track record of identifying operational opportunities and executing action plans to close gaps in aligning finance capabilities to business demand
- Is intellectually curiosity with a problem solving orientation.
- Has strong analytical capabilities and business acumen with ability to apply rigorous logic and sound methods to solve multi-faceted problems. Not satisfied with easy or convenient answers. Loves controls and developing sound control environments
- Has experience covering SALT, auditing or being audited, and working with corporate tax filings
