SUMMARY:
The Mayor’s Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor’s expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities.
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Task Force works with City, State, and federal agencies to help New York City recover from the lasting impacts of federally declared disaster events. The Insurance and Contract Administration Unit is responsible for management of the City’s compliance with insurance requirements, management of risk management/modeling, and various programmatic issues.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Support the City’s disaster recovery projects and learn the basics of grant management. Learn the basics of the FEMA grants process with particular emphasis on the National Flood Insurance Program. Assist in reviewing large datasets and identifying buildings potentially at risk from climate-related disasters.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Interest in learning about New York City government and disaster recovery. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technology quickly. Prior experience with federal grants, administering large database management systems, using GIS software and/or programming language are all a plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate interns must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program. Candidates should have strong analytical, quantitative, research and communication skills. Additionally, candidates must be proficient in MS Word and Excel
To participate in the OMB Summer Internship Program, graduate students must be currently enrolled or accepted into a graduate program.
