We are looking for a dedicated Emergency Operations Program Coordinator for limited term stint to join our Emergency Response Deployment team to support communities impacted by wildfires that impacted Southern California in 2025. This role involves conducting community assessments, supporting relief distribution, implementing projects (such as home repair, relief item distribution and many others), working with vulnerable populations (included minors), and performing various administrative tasks. Main Responsibilities:- Community Assessments and Project Implementation:
- With the deployment team, conduct community assessments to identify needs and develop appropriate response strategies.
- Implement various projects and modalities such as home repairs, Points ofDistributions, Logistical/Procurement support, and/or other necessary tasks based on the response needs.
Deployment and Coordination:
- Deploy to disaster sites as part of the Emergency Response Team.
- With the Response team, coordinate and oversee activities, ensuring effective on-ground operations.
- Connect with impacted individuals to provide services and collaborate with community groups to identify and address unmet needs.
Administrative and Communication Support:
- Assist with administrative tasks including report writing, data entry, and documentation.
- Act as a liaison between organizations and for departments such as Communications, Partnerships, Development, Finance, and Procurement/Logistics, addressing their on-the-ground needs and ensuring effective collaboration when team members from these departments are unable to deploy.
- Maintain regular contact with site leads and administrative personnel regarding humanitarian operations.
Scope and Travel:- Extensive travel within Los Angeles County
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, Emergency Management, Public Administration, Humanitarian Aid, International Relations, Social Work, or related fields that offer foundational knowledge in crisis response, workforce management, and organizational coordination.
- Minimum 2years of work in emergency response or humanitarian work preferred but not required
Experience:- Construction, plumbing, or related field preferred but not required
- Proven experience in emergency operations or volunteer management.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage diverse teams in high-pressure environments.
- Excellent communication and coordination abilities, with experience working across multiple departments and teams.
- Flexibility to deploy to various locations in response to disasters and humanitarian crises.
- A commitment to CORE's mission and values, with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those affected by disasters.
Skills and Competencies:- Proficient with Microsoft Office Applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong project management, leadership and organizational skills
- Flexible and adaptive to a frequently changing environment
- Ability to conduct community assessments and implement response projects.
- Competence in administrative tasks, report writing, and communications.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving history
- Available at least for 2 weeks at a time
- Fluent in Spanish or other secondary language preferred
- Understanding and appreciating diverse cultural backgrounds and sensitivities, ensuring that all interventions are respectful and appropriate to the communities served.
- Certification or experience in one or multiple of the following preferred but not necessary: Tarping; Muck & Gutting; Medical; Construction; Plumbing; Chainsaw Operations; Safety and Safeguarding; Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)
$61,500 - $61,500 a year
March 15, 2025 contingent on the duration of CORE's Response
In accordance with CA law, the expected pay range for this CA position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
