The Sales Representative - Individual Plans is responsible for promoting new sales and retention of Delta Dental of Idaho’s individual dental benefits. As an individual contributor, the Sales Representative will receive and follow up on direct consumer inquiries and selling opportunities for individual product sales in a call center environment, as well as provide support and book of business management-related assistance to brokers.
Essential Functions
- Respond to and fulfill opportunities for direct individual sales and retention, primarily over the phone in a call center environment.
- Respond to inbound sales calls with the objective of selling Individual policies directly to consumers and offering recommendations based on analysis of their insurance needs.
- Manage existing individual plan business relationships, supporting brokers and direct consumer requests that are not traditionally served by customer service or eligibility teams.
- Update and educate consumers and producers selling our products. Convey differentiated value and network strength using marketing materials to promote the company and its focus on improving oral health and wellness.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of new and existing DDID and competitor individual products, including industry information, new product information, legislative changes, coverages, and technology.
- Provide timely and accurate notes in the sales tracking system regarding interactions with our producers as well as consultation, education of products, and associated services.
- Gather and report competitive information and sales activities.
- Monitor and respond to termination requests.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the organization’s core values, code of ethics, and compliance/security standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college preferred. Experience in health or dental insurance industry preferred.
- Must possess or obtain an Idaho producer license in Health & Disability through the state insurance exam within 30 days of employment.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel and ability to learn and become a subject matter expert on additional software systems.
- Ability to travel on a limited, as-needed basis.
- Strong skills related to motivation, initiative, and collaboration.
- Strong, professional written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to explain complicated technical issues.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Demonstrate excellent problem-solving and organization skills
