Senior Associate Consultant, CLM

Harbor is seeking a Senior Associate Consultant with Contract Lifecycle Management, Artificial Intelligence (AI), service delivery, and client advisory experience to join our growing team.    A core part of our business is to provide technology services to corporate legal departments around the areas of Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM), Discovery and Data Management (DDM), and Enterprise Legal Management (ELM). This role is for our Contract Lifecycle Management service line, which helps Fortune 500 companies select, implement, and optimize Contract Lifecycle Management solutions. The immediate focus of this role will be to support a strong pipeline of Contract Lifecycle Management implementation and assessment projects. As a Senior Associate Consultant, you will be responsible for the following: Supporting multiple engagements and client relationships; Assisting in service delivery and project administration; Providing guidance and contributing to the completion of deliverables and client commitments; Developing current and future client relationships through exceptional service delivery. This role is open to remote work in any US location, with a preference for those in Chicago, our headquarters and where some of the CLM team resides.  

The following is an overview of the services the CLM team provides to help clients manage their contract management solution:  

  • Assess: Conduct assessments of contract management processes, workflows, and technologies and provide recommendations to enact change 
  • Roadmap: Develop strategic road maps that govern a holistic implementation approach 
  • Optimize: Focus on reconfiguring workflows and end-to-end business process improvements to support the optimization of existing CLM tools and technology 
  • Select: Perform assessment of current processes, detailed requirements gathering, and a robust RFP/demo process to ensure the system selected meets client needs 
  • Implement: Provide business process and technical expertise to support all aspects of system implementation, from design through deployment 
  • Enhance: Drive process and program improvement initiatives, including designing operating models and related roles, defining workflows, conducting training, and more 
  • Support: Provide support including managed services to drive high levels of adoption

Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

Client and Project Management: 

  • Assist in facilitating information gathering workshops with senior legal, business, and IT stakeholders to understand current state processes and gather future state goals and objectives 
  • Support benchmarking CLM processes, technologies, reporting and metrics, and team structures against industry best practices 
  • Differentiate between CLM providers and available technologies and identify technologies to satisfy client requirements to client leadership 
  • Contribute to the development and presentation of recommendations and implementation roadmaps to client leadership teams on how to mitigate risk, enhance the CLM program, and/or achieve operational efficiencies 
  • Assist in mapping current state workflows to new technology-enabled processes and/or integrations to create innovative yet practical solution frameworks 
  • Create CLM process documentation, workflow diagrams, playbooks, standard operating procedures, roles and responsibilities matrices, checklists, trackers, and other deliverables 
  • Identify and document test scenarios to ensure new processes, technologies, integrations, data handoffs, hosting models, etc. align with expected outcomes 
  • Support change management strategies and facilitate (or execute) key tasks required to ensure enduring change, strong user adoption, and a seamless implementation experience 
  • Partner with client teams to develop training curriculum and materials, as well as lead end-user training in partnership with technology providers 
  • Assist in project management for system implementation projects, including tracking project schedules, providing routine status updates, tracking and reporting issues, and coordinating activities with third party vendors 
  • Serve as a key point of contact for our key client contacts, which may include legal technology managers, legal operations leads, Procurement, and Sales leads 

People and Team Development: 

  • Cultivate relationships with current clients and work with team members to become trusted advisors and future lead client contacts 
  • Support quarterly business reviews with key account clients 
  • Enhance our internal methodologies, documentation, training, project delivery approaches, and tools 
  • Participate in company-wide strategic initiatives 
  • Volunteer for company-sponsored community enrichment programs 

Experience, Education and Other Qualifications: 

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in legal consulting or with a CLM provider, specifically in a customer facing role advising clients 
  • Experience performing CLM process and/or technology assessments, selecting and implementing CLM platforms, designing CLM operating models, creating CLM documentation (e.g., playbooks), or advising on best practices 
  • Preferred hands-on experience using and/or administering Ironclad, Agiloft, and/or Malbek  
  • Four-year degree in Finance, Business, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Science, Economics, Statistics, Accounting, Data & Analytics, and the like, or equivalent combination of experience and education 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following areas: 
    • Industry leading CLM technologies and service providers 
    • AI opportunities and best practices throughout the contract lifecycle (i.e., surgical redlining and/or data extraction) 
    • CLM stakeholders and their typical roles and responsibilities 
    • Common legal operations and CLM platform integrations 
    • Components of a highly developed CLM program 
    • IT implementation methodologies and controls 
  • Ability to independently support multiple concurrent engagements and clients 
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills (written, via data and deliverables, and verbally) 
  • Keen attention to detail and capability to prepare polished client deliverables 
  • Willingness to self-study and learn new concepts or technologies to solve problems 
  • Aptitude and desire to learn and develop generative or other AI-enabled solutions 
  • Have permanent US work authorization
