Hello Neighbor is seeking a Director Of Development who will support the efforts of Hello Neighbor’s fundraising, marketing and volunteer coordination in support of welcoming Pittsburgh’s newest neighbors.
We are seeking a seasoned development professional responsible for implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to support the exceptional growth experienced by Hello Neighbor over the past 8 years and help ensure the organization’s fiscal sustainability. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build strong relationships with donors, corporate partners, and other stakeholders. This position also oversees marketing and volunteers as both play a critical role in fundraising and building relationships with key stakeholder groups. This key position will be a part of the senior management team and report directly to the Founder & CEO.
Founded in 2017, Hello Neighbor works to improve the lives of recently resettled refugee families by matching them with dedicated neighbors to guide and support them in their new home. We’ve expanded from our mentorship program to now include refugee resettlement services, family service programs, a national program supporting other refugee and immigrant nonprofits around the country.
This is an in-house position at our Pittsburgh, PA office in Larimer. We are currently on a hybrid return-to-work and in the office on Tuesday, Wednesdays and Thursdays. We require COVID-19 vaccination for full-time employees.

Direct Reports: Development Manager, Development Assistant, Marketing Manager and Volunteer Coordinator
Key ResponsibilitiesFundraising:
- Collaborate with the CEO to refine and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to align with Hello Neighbor’s $5M budget and $1M+ annual fundraising target.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward relationships with key stakeholders, including foundations, major donors, corporate partners, and community groups.
- Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and reports to engage donors and showcase impact.
- Plan and execute an annual calendar of fundraising and relationship-building events.
- Stay informed on philanthropic trends to innovate and adapt fundraising approaches for long-term sustainability.
Marketing:
- Support the marketing strategy to amplify Hello Neighbor’s mission and fundraising efforts through integrated campaigns.
- Oversee the creation of engaging content, including blogs, newsletters, and annual reports, to resonate with donors and partners.
- Manage digital and traditional marketing campaigns to boost visibility and community engagement.
- Utilize data-driven insights to analyze and optimize marketing strategies for donor acquisition and retention.
- Collaborate with direct reports and senior leadership to enhance Hello Neighbor’s brand presence through social media, email campaigns, events and outreach.
Volunteering:
- Support the volunteer strategy to recruit, engage, and retain volunteers in alignment with Hello Neighbor’s mission.
- Oversee volunteer training, appreciation and programming to enhance the volunteer experience.
- Build relationships with local groups, businesses, and schools to strengthen the volunteer network.
- Highlight volunteer stories and contributions in collaboration with the marketing team to showcase their impact.
- Foster meaningful volunteer experiences that align with organizational goals and community needs.
Preferred Qualifications:- 8 or more years of experience in a professional setting, with a preference for 5 or more years in nonprofit fundraising.
- Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in nonprofit management or related field.
- Experience managing a team, with strong leadership and communication skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling fundraising messages and presentations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse group of donors, corporate partners, and community stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement long-term fundraising strategies that align with organizational goals.
- Previous development experience in management, budgeting, fund development strategy, campaign development and event planning.
- Knowledge of CRM software.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve shared goals.

Additional Details:- This is a regular, full-time exempt in-house position at our Pittsburgh office in the Larimer neighborhood
- Salary Range: $75,000 - 85,000 annually, payable biweekly
- Clearances required: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Clearance, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal History Clearance (PA Act 23 & Act 24)
- Personal vehicle, valid driver’s license, and proof of insurance preferred
- Selected candidates will be invited to interview on a rolling basis
