Controls Sales Engineer

Controls Sales Engineer Overview:

 

We are seeking a Controls Sales Engineer with deep experience in Tridium Niagara technologies to lead the discovery, design, quoting, and selling of integrated building automation solutions. This full-cycle sales role combines technical expertise with business development skills to help grow our new Building Automation practice, building upon our strong foundation in IT and physical security services.

The ideal candidate is both technically proficient in the Niagara Framework (including Niagara 4 and Niagara AX) and commercially driven, capable of identifying client needs, crafting tailored BAS solutions, and managing projects through the sales pipeline to close.


Controls Sales Engineer Responsibilities:


Sales & Business Development:

• Identify and qualify opportunities for building automation projects across commercial and industrial markets.

• Conduct client discovery meetings to assess building system needs, pain points, and integration opportunities.

• Present and articulate the value of Niagara-based BAS solutions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Prepare detailed proposals, including scope, budget estimates, and technical documentation.

• Collaborate with internal engineering, project management, and service teams to ensure accurate quoting and seamless project handoff.

• Drive the full sales cycle, from lead generation and technical discovery to quoting, contract negotiation, and deal closure.

Technical Solutioning & Support:

• Design, program, and recommend BAS solutions using the Tridium Niagara Framework.

• Specify and integrate protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and KNX for interoperability.

• Assist in commissioning, system integration, and technical support as needed during project execution.

• Deliver customer presentations, system demos, and post-sale technical training.

Market & Practice Development:

• Design, program, and recommend BAS solutions using the Tridium Niagara Framework.

• Specify and integrate protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and KNX for interoperability.

• Assist in commissioning, system integration, and technical support as needed during project execution.

• Deliver customer presentations, system demos, and post-sale technical training.


Controls Sales Engineer Qualifications:


• 3+ years of experience in designing and selling BAS solutions using Tridium Niagara (Niagara 4 and AX).

• Strong proficiency in Niagara 4 and Niagara AX platforms (certification preferred).

• Proven success in a technical sales or sales engineering role within the building automation or controls industry.

• Solid understanding of building systems including HVAC, lighting, and energy management.

• Familiarity with networking, IP addressing, and integration between BAS and enterprise systems.

• Strong documentation skills including wiring diagrams, network schematics, and sequence of operations.

• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Effective communicator and collaborator across cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications:


• Niagara 4 Technical Certification (TCP) preferred.

• Experience with Honeywell WEBs, Distech, Vykon, or other Niagara-based products.

Familiarity with smart building technologies and IoT devices.

• Niagara 4 Enterprise Security Technical Certification Program is a plus.


Work Environment:


Combination of office and field-based work in commercial and industrial settings.

Travel may be required to support system deployment, commissioning, and customer support.
