Job Overview

The Linear Generator is a sophisticated, automated, and integrated system spanning a wide range of engineering disciplines including thermodynamics, mechanical, electrical, software, and controls. As an intern on the Fleet Operations & Analytics Team, you will support the development of critical systems and tools used for operations and monitoring of Linear Generators (LGens), rapid troubleshooting, management of incident resolution, and advanced data analysis aimed at improving our product and communicating on our fleet performance.  

• Support operational functions of the Fleet Operations & Analytics team, including commissioning tasks, troubleshooting efforts, incident management, etc.
• Write scripts and create tools to scale up operations, such as:
• Automate calibration and commissioning of newly deployed units
• Automatically and rapidly identify the root cause of failures from time-series datasets
• Streamline tools and processes used for incident and problem management
• Lead the development of tools used to track operational histories and trends
• Lead documentation efforts to ensure essential troubleshooting actions are captured and effectively communicated
• Track parts, hours, and fleet performance for monthly reporting.

• Previous experience and/or studies in electrical or mechanical engineering, preferably with experience analyzing and/or troubleshooting complex systems (electro-mechanical, mechatronics, energy systems) 
• Proven organizational skills with an attention to detail. Experience managing complex projects with multiple moving parts and stakeholders. 
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Demonstrated interest and ability in the development of automated software tools and processes (Python preferred, SQL a plus)
• Experience with data engineering or data analytics, e.g., time-series data, cloud tools, dashboards, industry-standard tools, or custom tools of your own 
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Strong communication and collaborative skills
