Technical Training Specialist

Make is the leading visual platform for anyone to design, build, and automate anything—from tasks and workflows to apps and systems—without the need for coding skills. We are headquartered in the flourishing tech hub of Prague, Czech Republic, and our teams are spread across the USA, UK, Germany, France, Canada, India and Chile, among other locations.

About the Role

Make Academy is looking for a Technical Training Specialist to plan, design, and develop engaging learning experiences that help learners master Make, automation, and AI-driven workflows. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about technology—especially AI—and excels at breaking down complex topics into clear, accessible explanations.

We’re seeking a proactive problem-solver who thrives in a fast-moving, ever-changing environment. As a scale-up, we need someone who takes ownership of their work, collaborates closely with a global team, and identifies process gaps—turning them into clear guidelines and documentation.

Your audience will range from business professionals with limited technical knowledge to highly experienced automation specialists, so you must design content that accommodates diverse skill levels. You’ll determine which topics are appropriate for each level and adapt your explanations to fit the audience’s expertise and needs.

You will craft clear and compelling explanations, focusing on why each topic matters and using analogies to simplify complex concepts. Your writing will be clear, simple, and straightforward, ensuring that non-native English speakers can easily understand the content.

While you will not be responsible for developing final course assets, you will design, plan, structure, and storyboard the learning content before handing it off to content developers for production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define learning objectives and outcomes for training courses.
  • Work backward from desired outcomes to determine course structure and content, collaborating with SMEs to define necessary topics and practical applications.
  • Research and understand the concepts covered in the course.
  • Design learning content for diverse audiences, determining the appropriate level of detail for learners to grasp key concepts.
  • Present complex technical topics in a clear and simple manner for learners of all backgrounds.
  • Develop structured storyboards for content developers, specifying interaction types, written content, image ideas, and development instructions.
  • Ensure that training content is engaging, practical, and learner-focused by applying adult learning methodologies to create effective learning experiences.
  • Proactively document common practices, processes, and guidelines as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or technical training, with a track record of designing effective self-paced e-learning for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Expertise in adult learning principles, instructional methodologies, and structuring content to ensure logical flow and knowledge retention.
  • Skilled in writing clear, measurable learning objectives and selecting relevant topics to meet learning goals.
  • Strong collaborator, capable of challenging SME decisions to ensure alignment with learning needs and objectives, while making final decisions on course content.
  • Strong knowledge of APIs, programming and AI concepts, with the ability to research and understand complex topics independently.
  • Ability to communicate complex topics clearly, using simple language, analogies, graphics, and diagrams to enhance understanding.
  • Fluency in English with strong writing skills, with the ability to write in a clear, simple way that matches the learner's level and is easily understood by non-native English speakers.
  • Experienced in storyboarding and providing clear instructions to developers to ensure smooth content implementation.
  • Proficient in learning technologies and authoring tools (e.g., Articulate 360).
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Capable of maintaining a holistic view of learning content, ensuring new materials fit seamlessly within the existing curriculum.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience teaching AI and automation.
  • Ability to structure information visually in a storyboard, ensuring content is clear, organized, and easily digestible for learners. This includes suggesting image ideas, slide types, and interactive elements to enhance engagement.
  • A fun and engaging approach to content creation, making learning light-hearted and enjoyable for learners.
  • Proactive in reviewing and maintaining existing course content.
  • Excited to learn new technical topics and share knowledge with others.
