Mō te tūranga | What you’ll be doing     

It’s an exciting time to join our Retail team which has undergone a significant change to adopt new modern ways of working. Committed to making energy cleaner and cheaper for Aotearoa New Zealand, our Retail structure is made up of a network of empowered teams, united by a shared purpose and clear goals, equipped with the skills and capabilities to deliver value to customers end to end. 

Reporting to the Pricing Revenue Lead, the Commercial Pricing Analyst acts as a subject matter expert in the Commercial Pricing space, collaborating with peers to develop, maintain and deliver competitive rates to the market and ensure a smooth customer journey. The role is also involved in supporting pricing for new product offerings and ensuring our customers are on the best plans. This varied role involves maintaining complex data sets, updating pricing, providing analysis and insights, and creating new processes and tools to support and grow our customer base. 

Other accountabilities include: 

  • Supporting the Retail team to develop and deliver market-facing promotions, products and services. 
  • Ensuring smooth implementation of price changes and resolving billing issues. 
  • Providing insights to understand the impact of price changes on customers. 
  • Offering alternative plan options and renewals to customers. 
  • Automating existing and new processes. 
  • Keeping internal and external rate cards, websites, apps, and third-party platforms up-to-date and accurate. 
  • Providing subject matter expertise through commercial insights and analysis to inform and support change.

We are seeking a dynamic professional with a knack for communication, networking, and influencing. You’ll have a degree in Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, or a similar discipline, and experience in commercial roles (bonus points if it’s in the electricity sector). You’ll be someone who loves learning new things and have a great work ethic. Articulating ideas comes naturally to you, and you’re a true team player who values others’ perspectives.   

You’ll be a data guru, proficient in SAS programming and have advanced Excel modelling capabilities. Your strong numerical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a keen eye for detail, make you highly competent at providing comprehensive analysis and reporting. Visual basic scripting skills and familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, and Power Apps are desirable, but not essential.
