Job Description

We are searching for a highly skilled 3D Printing Specialist with a deep understanding of 3D printing, post-processing, and finishing techniques, specifically tailored for the entertainment and theme park industries. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in various 3D printing technologies, including Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) and Polyjet, and possess hands-on experience with 3D printing equipment and software. This role is pivotal in translating concepts into tangible 3D objects, solving complex challenges, and ensuring exceptional quality for our clientele.

As a 3D Printing Specialist, your primary responsibilities encompass the operation and maintenance of diverse 3D printing equipment, as well as the successful execution of projects primarily for the art, filmed entertainment, and theme parks industry. Your role is crucial in the post-processing, support removal, and finishing stages to deliver visually stunning 3D printed pieces within specified timeframes.

Responsibilities:

  • Proficiently operate and maintain various 3D printing equipment, including the Stratasys F770 FDM 3D and J850 Polyjet 3D printers.
  • Utilize Magics RP Software to prepare 3D models for optimal printing results.
  • Manage support removal equipment such as the Omegasonics 4030 for FDM parts and SCA 1200HT for polyjet parts.
  • Using equipment like the Objet Desktop WaterJet cleaning unit for efficient support removal from the J850.
  • Ensure responsible waste disposal using WRAP for waste polyjet resin.
  • Potential use of 3D scanning equipment, such as the Evixscan Heavy Duty Quadro 3D Scanner, for digitizing physical objects.
  • Ability to use ProtoMax Waterjet for specific cutting projects and post-processing tasks.
  • Handle estimation and inventory control for materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate with clients to comprehend project requirements, provide technical expertise, and deliver timely estimates.
  • Assist in the creation and optimization of 3D files for output, aligning them with client expectations.
  • Innovate and devise solutions to enhance 3D printing and finishing processes.
  • Skillfully troubleshoot technical issues during the 3D printing and post-processing phases.
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and advancements in 3D printing technology.

Qualifications

What You Have...

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in related creative fields such as printing, design, painting, and fabrication that can help offer artistic solutions for projects and clients, or equivalent working experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in 3D printing, post-processing, and finishing, particularly within the art, entertainment, and theme park sectors.
  • 1+ years of experience with industry-standard software such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Blender, Fusion 360, Autodesk Maya, ZBrush, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.
  • 1+ years of experience with 3D print file formats such as STL, OBJ, AMF, 3MF, VRML, X3G, FBX, PLY, G-Code, STEP, IGES, among others.
  • 1+ years of experience with Magics RP Software and other relevant 3D printing data and build preparation software that include CAD and mesh tools. Working experience with modeling and slicing applications.
  • 1+ years of experience in operating and maintaining 3D printing and post-processing equipment, including the understanding and management of environmental conditions.
  • 1+ years of experience with the F770 FDM 3D Printer and J850 Polyjet 3D Printer, encompassing site preparation, system requirements, and daily maintenance.
  • Proficiency in PC systems, including basic networking troubleshooting, file storage, and functionality.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials and objects as needed.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, etc. for extended periods of time.

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks. Salary range: $80,000 - $95,000
