SUMMARY OF THE ROLE 


At NextDecade, we are driven by innovation, sustainability, and the pursuit of excellence in the energy sector. As part of our commitment to developing the next generation of leaders, we are excited to offer a comprehensive internship program within our Operations team. This internship program offers an opportunity for motivated individuals to gain hands-on experience across a variety of technical disciplines.


What You'll Do: As an Process Intern, you will be immersed in real-world projects that contribute to the success of our business. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with professionals in areas such as:


  • Support Process Engineering Function
  • Support process design effort for process improvements including plant debottlenecking and expansion studies.
  • Support in developing key process indicators (KPIs) for process unit operations for monitoring including: fouling, freezing in process equipment and thermal efficiency
  • Support in process modelling (equilibrium, non-equilibrium, steady state and dynamic simulation).


What We're Looking For:
  • Students graduating December 2025 through December 2026, pursuing degrees in Chemical Engineering
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Passion for the energy industry and an interest in LNG.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with engineering software or business systems (AutoCAD, Aspen, SAP, etc.) is a plus.

Location: These internships are located in Houston, TX

Duration and Compensation: This internship program typically lasts 8-10 weeks offering valuable exposure to the LNG and energy industry. Compensation and additional benefits will be discussed during the interview process.


Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, either now or in the future.

Work Environment 

This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/fax, filing cabinets, etc.This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift. 

Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations: 

·  Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as required in order to lift files, boxes and office equipment as necessary.

·  Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending, standing on a stool, or climbing as necessary to perform these functions.

·  While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent may be required to talk or hear.

·  The incumbent is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

·  Ability to move throughout all areas of each office/site location and facilities.

·  Able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
