The Vice President of Sales will be responsible for driving sales of our family safety solutions and value-added services (VAS to Tier 1 and Tier 2 mobile operators). This individual will lead our strategic sales initiatives, manage high-profile carrier relationships, and drive multi-million-dollar deals from inception to close. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wireless, mobility, or consulting sales, with deep industry connections and expertise in deal structuring, financial modeling, and executive-level negotiations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Drive Revenue Growth: Lead the identification, negotiation, and closure of high-value sales opportunities, particularly within Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers.
  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy to expand Smith Micro’s presence in the carrier market.
  • Executive-Level Engagement: Leverage existing C-suite and VP-level relationships within at least one major carrier to accelerate sales cycles and establish strategic partnerships.
  • Team Leadership: Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing team, fostering a culture of accountability and results.
  • Market Expansion: Identify and pursue new revenue streams, market trends, and strategic alliances to drive long-term business growth.
  • Deal Structuring & Analysis: Build detailed financial models, analyze deal profitability, and provide data-driven recommendations. (Excel expertise required.)
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, engineering, and marketing teams to align sales efforts with company objectives.
  • Positioning & Negotiation: Defend and articulate Smith Micro’s value proposition effectively in both internal and external discussions.
  • Presentation & Communication: Develop compelling PowerPoint presentations and executive-level proposals to communicate sales strategies and business value.
  • Travel & Presence: This role requires frequent travel (up to 50%) and is ideally based in Dallas or Denver.

Sales & Industry Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in sales leadership, business development, or enterprise sales within wireless, telecom, or consulting.
  • Deep experience selling VAS (Value-Added Services), Family Safety solutions, or similar carrier-focused software solutions.
  • Proven track record of executing complex, high-value deals with mobile operators.
  • Strong existing relationships with executives at Tier 1 carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, etc.).
  • Ability to forecast revenue with accuracy and manage a sales pipeline that exceeds company targets.
  • Experience leading multi-product, consultative sales processes and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Technical & Analytical Acumen:
  • Strong understanding of wireless networks, mobile devices, cloud technologies, and carrier ecosystems.
  • Expert-level Excel proficiency for financial modeling, pricing strategies, and deal analysis.
  • Ability to interpret market data, pricing trends, and competitive landscapes to shape sales strategies.

Professional & Leadership Qualities:
  • Experience leading and managing sales teams with a focus on coaching, performance, and results.
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively through presentations, proposals, and discussions.
  • Self-starter with a high-energy, results-driven mindset and a passion for winning in competitive markets.
