Customer Service Representative I

Pay Range: $18.00/hr. - $19.87/hr.

Two Customer Service Rep I positions are available with the City of Fort Worth Southwest Regional Library to provide great customer service.

The ideal candidates for this position are friendly, helpful, extremely organized, enthusiastic about bringing library services to all members of the community, and comfortable working with diverse populations including people of all ages, backgrounds, dispositions, and abilities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Less than a high school diploma/GED.
  • No prior experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years of customer service experience.
  • Ability to communicate with customers in Spanish.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to work at/travel to various locations.

The Customer Service Rep I job responsibilities include:

  • Providing friendly, efficient, and professional service to customers.
  • Checking library materials in and out; Issuing library cards.
  • Conducting customer payment transactions and operating a cash register.
  • Answering customer questions about library policies, procedures and accounts.
  • Answering basic reference, reader’s advisory and general usage questions.
  • Assist with library programs and outreach as needed.

Working Conditions

Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking and repetitive motions.

Physical Demand

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria met.
