Pay Range: $78,326 - $101,824 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm; Some evening/weekend work required.

The FWLab is at the forefront of driving innovation and strategic initiatives within the City of Fort Worth (COFW), and we are looking for a Sr. Management Analyst - Strategic Projects to join our team. This newly created role will be critical in supporting the department’s growing project management and communication needs. As a Sr. Management Analyst - Strategic Projects, the successful candidate will take the lead in coordinating and managing a variety of high-priority projects, both internal and external, ensuring that they are executed effectively and aligned with the FWLab’s strategic goals. In addition to overseeing the execution of complex projects, this role will involve developing data-driven communication strategies to support key processes such as annual budgeting, long-range planning, and data analytics initiatives.

The Analyst will also play a pivotal role in advancing major city-wide initiatives, including the 2050 Comprehensive Plan, the 2026 Bond Program, Priority-Based Budgeting, and other organizational improvements. The position will be crucial in driving forward the department's contributions to upcoming FY25 strategic initiatives, with a focus on spearheading and coordinating cross-departmental projects that will shape the city’s future.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public Administration, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience in the analysis of processes, procedures, operations, systems or methods, including experience in the functional area of assignment such as budget/financial management, research analysis or related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with public engagement, stakeholder outreach, and inter-departmental communication efforts are preferred.
  • Proven experience in managing complex projects and initiatives with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise messages.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, etc.).
  • Experience with social media platforms, content management systems, and communication software.
  • Knowledge of government operations and public-sector communication strategies is a plus.

The Sr. Management Analyst - Strategic Projects responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and Implement Communication and Project Management Strategies: Create comprehensive internal and external communication plans to support key FWLab initiatives, while also coordinating cross-divisional projects to ensure alignment with department objectives, organizational priorities, and data-driven insights. Manage and track the progress of projects spanning multiple divisions or those that come from the City Manager’s Office, ensuring timely updates and successful execution.
  • Collaborate on Data-Driven Communication & Project Execution: Partner with the Data Analytics division to translate data insights into actionable communication strategies that support decision-making, while also tracking the progress of relevant projects and communicating status updates through various channels such as newsletters, formal reports, and social media.
  • Public Engagement & Project Outreach: Facilitate public outreach and engagement efforts for large-scale projects, ensuring that communication is clear, transparent, and effectively managed across multiple touchpoints. Coordinate project timelines, milestones, and public messaging to keep stakeholders and the community informed of progress and outcomes.
  • Inter-Departmental Project Coordination: Act as a liaison between FWLab and other departments, overseeing communication strategies while ensuring that projects are on track and delivered on time. Promote cross-functional collaboration to ensure the effective execution of projects, while also managing communication efforts that align with broader city initiatives.
  • Lead Communications for Key Initiatives and Projects: Develop communication plans for large-scale initiatives, such as the 2050 Comprehensive Plan and 2026 Bond, while simultaneously taking charge of coordinating and managing project deliverables, timelines, and progress reporting. Serve as the point of contact for projects coming from the City Manager's Office.
  • Content Creation, Distribution, and Project Tracking: Develop and distribute a variety of content—reports, presentations, project showcases, newsletters, social media posts—that effectively communicate complex data and ongoing project developments. Ensure communication is aligned with project milestones and results.
  • Data Analysis, Reporting, and Project Performance Monitoring: Utilize data analytics tools to measure the effectiveness of communication efforts and project progress. Provide regular status reports to stakeholders, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and recommend adjustments as needed to ensure projects remain on track.
  • Public Communication and Project-Specific Updates: Assist in proactive and reactive communication efforts, particularly during key project milestones or critical situations. Provide clear, timely updates to the public on project statuses, deliverables, and next steps through a variety of communication methods.
  • Training, Support, and Project Management Tools: Offer training and support to team members on best practices for both communication and project management. Help build a sustainable project management framework within the department, utilizing tools for tracking, reporting, and improving project execution.
  • Vendor and Contract Management for Projects: Oversee and manage contracts with external vendors or agencies supporting communication and project management efforts. Coordinate deliverables, ensure compliance with contract terms, and monitor performance to ensure projects are completed successfully, within scope and budget.

Physical Demand 

Sedentary Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.  Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
