Your Opportunity

The Scion Group is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to add value to the Advisory Services team. This position will focus on supporting Scion’s institutional clients by assisting in research across topics such as: real estate, student housing, and residential life), data analysis and deliverable development, providing marketing support, developing templates and trainings for deliverables and professional development all towards enhancing efficiencies and the quality of service provided to our clients.

Scion’s internship program provides a unique opportunity for ambitious college students to learn, contribute, and gain real-world work experience in a collaborative environment. Interns have the chance to learn more about Scion’s culture and business while developing practical skills necessary post-graduation. The 10-week program includes 1-on-1 guidance and timely feedback, development opportunities for soft skills and technical skills, spotlights on various functions outside of your team, mentorship relationships with company leaders and networking opportunities with colleagues. The program equips interns with an understanding of working in a professional environment dedicated to providing colleagues and communities with optimal support, expertise and experience.

About Advisory Services

Scion’s Advisory Services practice strives to be the foremost expert in all aspects of student housing. As the only consulting team offering services across the full lifecycle of campus housing, we partner with both institutions of higher education and off-campus providers to address today's challenges, anticipate tomorrow's needs, and empower our partners to make decisions that maximize every student’s residential experience.

At the end of your internship, you will have obtained the following experience:

  • An understanding of Scion’s business and how the Advisory Services function supports the business.
  • Basic knowledge of Scion’s internal technology and systems (such as our home-grown proprietary business intelligence software).
  • Experience presenting the identification of obstacles and solutions, implementation, and results to varying audiences.
  • How to effectively work with others and development of interpersonal relationships.
  • Networking and collaborating with peers, Scion colleagues and executive leadership.
  • Gain advisory and consulting experience.
  • Develop skills for client-facing engagements, deliverables, etc.,

Your Responsibilities

  • Create mini-presentations regarding research findings and present them for routine professional development
  • Review data and information provided by clients for accuracy and use-ability
  • Conduct and assist in the analysis and research needed for the successful production of client deliverables; this may include but is not limited to enrollment data, on-campus housing units and pricing, off-campus market trends and planned development projects
  • Support marketing initiatives, such as organizing clients by state, size, institution-type, conference execution, build digital contact list, etc.,
  • Update and document standard operating processes
  • Participate in survey development, review templates, provide feedback and generate ideas to ensure relevancy to today’s student population
  • Refine data collection models for market studies
  • Analyze and summarize recent research on topics including but not limited to student development theory, residence life/student housing, national and regional enrollment trends, community college housing trends, regional multifamily housing rental markets and public-private partnerships in higher education

What We Require

  • A desire and eagerness to learn and grow.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Current student or recent graduate from an undergraduate or master's program with coursework in communication, data analysis, real estate, or a related field.
  • Must be willing to work full-time for the full 10-week term of the program, beginning June 9, 2024.
  • Aptitude in developing proficient technology skills with Microsoft Office Suite, Qualtrics.
  • Unrestricted U.S. work authorization is required. We do not offer sponsorship for this position.
  • Values and fosters a sensitive and supportive approach to a diverse working and living environment.
  • All positions require pre-employment background check verification and a pre-employment drug screen.

Operational Details

  • Job location is based at Scion’s Chicago corporate headquarters where you will be exposed to on-the-fly learning opportunities.
  • Full-time hours; 10-week program.
  • Working hours are typically 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
