Job Description
The Consultant shall provide WMATA with an on-call project manager with a comprehensive track record of managing design, redesign, and construction/rehabilitation projects. The Consultant Environmental Project Manager should possess progressive supervisory and managerial experience. This position requires an effective team leader who can engage and coordinate with multiple stakeholders, manage the completion of deliverables, and oversee tasks as assigned.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Review current Capital Program initiatives related to environmental issues, including:
- Operationalize all aspects of the developed program, per WMATA management approval, including:
- Managing all internal WMATA documentation related to the projects noted above, contract deliverables, and correspondence throughout all phases of each project to ensure the success of the program
Background and Experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or urban planning;
- Minimum of 10 years of civil construction experience with at least five (5) of the 10 years in environmental-related design and construction management in the United States;
- Experience with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), and other environmental planning and permitting requirements;
- Familiarity working within a railroad corridor, including familiarity with trackage rights, etc.;
- Demonstrated experience in managing large construction projects;
- Proficiency in developing and managing Project Management Plans;
- Experience developing and managing project schedules and cost estimates;
- Experience in risk management, including the development of risk registers;
- Demonstrable verbal and written communication skills;
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft 365® applications, including SharePoint, and the fundamentals of a network environment to perform reliable electronic document control functions;
- Proficiency with AutoCAD; and
- Must be able to successfully complete and obtain WMATA’s RWP Certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer license or AICP certification
- Familiarity with WMATA’s project management software system (Procore)
1099 Rate Range: $100 – $125/hour
Location: WMATA Eisenhower Office, 2401 Mill Road, Alexandria, VA 22314 (Full-Time, 7 months (subject to renewal), Hybrid - 2 days/week)
Work Hours: The normal work hours will be from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, however, certain positions may require nights and weekends, as necessary.
