Data Analyst Lead

We are committed to promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace - a place where we can each be ourselves and do the best work of our lives. At Tracksuit we consider a unique perspective, diverse experience and a growth mindset to be of greater value than ticking every box on an JD. If you think you have what it takes but don’t have the exact experience we’ve set out, please still get in touch and apply. We’d love to chat!

At Tracksuit we provide beautiful, radically affordable, always-on brand tracking which is easy to use compared to traditional methods. We recognise that sounds like a ton of buzzwords for marketers, so what it really means is that we did over 50,000 surveys last month to find out what real humans think and feel about the world’s best brands and their competitors. Check us out here: www.gotracksuit.com 🙌

Are you Tracksuit’s new Data Analyst Lead?

We’re looking for a dynamic Data Analyst Lead to unlock the full potential of our data, drive impactful insights, and help scale one of the fastest-growing SaaS businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

As our first dedicated Data Analyst, this role is perfect for a pragmatic self-starter who is equally interested in empowering data-driven decisions cross-functionally and implementing best practices in analytics engineering.

👉 Please note — while we have listed this role as being based in our Auckland office, we are also open to Sydney applicants and this person working from our Sydney office.

As our Data Analyst Lead, you will be responsible for leading our efforts to:
  • Uncover relevant insights with our data: Working with our product team and the wider business to identify the most important business outcomes and questions and proactively produce analysis and recommendations to share with senior leadership.
  • Scale internal reporting capabilities across a variety of data sets: commercial / revenue data, marketing data, customer data, customer health data, and product analytics.
  • Working with the wider data team and business to address reporting needs, gather requirements, understand business needs, and deliver data-driven solutions. You’ll own our business intelligence layer and help build the next generation reporting platform at Tracksuit.
  • Automating our reporting and dashboard needs to give the business the data they need to move quickly and make decisions.
  • Manage and scale our data requests: Servicing data needs across the business, but more importantly building ways to automate and scale the wider business’ data needs. You’ll be helping put data at the front of all decision making.
  • Manage our product analytics: Working cross-functionally with product, marketing, sales, and customer success to equip teams with the product analytics data they need to succeed.

That’s the role, so who are you? We have already established a talented data team of four Data Engineers and three Data Scientists. You’ll join and collaborate closely with this group and other stakeholders to define and implement the priorities for data analytics at Tracksuit.
  • You’ll have an outsized influence on one of the fastest-growing SaaS businesses: In the words of Blackbird general partner, Phoebe Harrop: “By my estimation, Tracksuit is New Zealand’s fastest-growing enterprise software company ever.” You’ll work on critical business questions and build an analytics platform that will directly influence our ability to continue on our trajectory.
  • Be a pioneer: You’ll be defining and building the data analytics function in a high-growth SaaS environment.
  • Build on a greenfield: You’ll have the opportunity to develop and implement business intelligence best practices for a young, fast-growing company.
  • Scale with us: You’ll start by taking on ground-level analytics and reporting tasks, but have the room to grow into strategic leadership.

Who are we looking for? We’re looking for an experienced Data Analyst Lead with:
  • Business Intelligence: Enabling diverse users: Passionate about enabling end-users to get the value they need from our data. Their success is your success. Dashboards and reporting: Extensive experience creating reports. BI modelling: Experience defining a reporting layer to standardise high-quality self-serve data access across a rapidly-scaling company. ML and AI: We think AI-supported reporting is the future. Bonus points if you have experience and a pragmatic vision here.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ability to translate complex data into clear actionable narratives to influence decisions at all levels of the company. Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience managing cross-functional stakeholders. Your ability to say “No” well is critical. Experience collaborating with data engineers, including project management and defining data requirements.
  • Business acumen: Strong commercial understanding with the ability to prioritize insights that drive business value. Experience working across product, marketing, sales, and customer success functions.
  • Technical expertise: SQL + Python or R: Proficient in SQL. Python or R would be helpful. Statistics + Maths: Strong analytical and statistics skills to analyse trends, patterns, and correlations in our data. Databases: Skilled at navigating databases and data warehouses. Familiarity with version control is helpful. Exposure to tools like HubSpot, Vitally, or Subskribe is a plus. Bonus points if you have exposure to data or analytics engineering.
