Job Summary

The Manufacturing Engineering (MFGE) Manager leads a team of engineers and technicians in developing, implementing, and optimizing manufacturing processes, tools, and fixtures. Reporting to the Director of MFGE, this role drives product lifecycle management by collaborating across departments—including Engineering, Quality, Materials, Document Control, and Manufacturing—to resolve technical challenges and enhance operational efficiency. The MFGE Manager fosters a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and professional growth, ensuring team alignment with best practices and organizational goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee product transitions through Prototype, Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP), and Released production phases.
  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to boost production throughput, minimize waste, reduce costs, and enhance product and operator safety. Regularly report on process improvements and outcomes.
  • Serve as a key liaison between Engineering and Manufacturing, balancing objectives and aligning processes across divisions.
  • Prioritize MFGE resources in coordination with Engineering Program Managers (EPMs) and Manufacturing Program Managers (MPMs). Reallocate personnel for critical, unplanned projects as necessary.
  • Develop and manage preventative maintenance programs for production assembly and test fixtures.
  • Provide technical expertise to support project execution and team development.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, promoting a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Drive quality assurance efforts in partnership with Quality teams, implementing preventative and corrective actions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Leadership & Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Manufacturing Engineers and Engineering Technicians.
  • Lead recruitment, training, development, performance evaluations, and daily operations to optimize productivity and team capacity.
  • Uphold HR policies and core company values, ensuring compliance and fostering a positive team culture.
  • Set clear performance standards and lead by example to promote high-quality work and accountability.
  • Approve timecards in accordance with internal and contract-specific requirements.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an MFGE, Engineering, Industrial Technology or related discipline.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP.
  • 10+ years applicable/related experience AND 2+ years’ experience as a supervisor or manager.
  • Microsoft Suite of products including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks PDM.
  • Participate in the identity verification process to access secure client or government portals by authorizing certified supplier management platforms to obtain information from your personal credit profile or other information, solely to verify your identity. 

Physical Requirements

  • Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually.
  • Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
  • Seeing to read a variety of materials.
  • Sitting or standing for extended period of time.
  • Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Any items that weigh more than 50 pounds will require two or more people or a lifting device to move.
  • Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.

Pay/Salary Information

Pay scale for this position - $104,291.00- $120,000.00 annually
