The Accounting Clerk, Lending plays a vital role in our accounting department, supporting the VP of Accounting by managing various accounting tasks with a focus on reconciliations, month-end closing processes, loan and interest activity, and general ledger maintenance. The Accounting Clerk position will assist in a wide range of duties, including various lending operations, accounts payable, researching discrepancies, reconciliations for period end close and financial activities through multiple financial systems as directed by the VP of Accounting or other members of the Accounting Team as necessary.
The Accounting Clerk must be very detail-oriented and willing to pitch in where needed as this position is in a startup setting. This individual must be organized with excellent communication skills and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Assist with Lending Operations and Cash management including daily reconciliations, post daily cash transactions and interest payments
- Assist with management of NetLoans LMS software
- Assist loan operations including reviewing bank accounts for client principal payments
- Maintain loan operations documentation (New Funding, Loan Activity, and Past Due Interest tracking), capital provider allocations and analysis
- Assist with accounts payable administration and management
- Ensure accuracy for all transactions for entity, GL coding, state and departments
- Reconcile accounts as assigned
- Assist with month end close process including cash and loan account reconciliations, journal entries and bank statements
- Assist with month end accrual entries
- Maintain accurate fixed asset listings and reconciliations
- Book journal entries as requested
- Process prepaid amortization and track prepaid expenses
- Actively assists the VP of Accounting on initiatives to improve processes, develop new financial system applications and upgrade existing applications
- Assist with year-end audit, SOC and tax requests
- Assist with ad hoc tasks or data entry projects as assigned
WHO YOU ARE:
- You have 1-3 years of relevant experience working in accounting or bookkeeping.
- You have experience with accounts payable and prepaids.
- You have experience with accounting software systems.
- You are proficient with Google SuiteMicrosoft Office with an emphasis on Excel.
- You are a highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently.
- You are a self-starter and motivated to bring positive energy into the role
- You have the ability to multi-task, work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet tight deadlines.
- You are a forward-looking thinker and have demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
- You have the ability to think analytically and make sound judgments from analysis.
- You have a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- You have strong organizational and verbal and written communication skills.
- You reside in the United States.
