Job Overview
Our client, a leading financial services organization, seeks an Application Support Engineer to maintain and support production applications. The role involves resolving technical issues, collaborating with development and infrastructure teams, and ensuring operational stability in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Resolve critical production issues using ITIL Incident, Change, and Problem Management processes.
- Debug and troubleshoot complex systems (distributed, cloud, containers).
- Monitor and enhance application performance using tools like Splunk, DynaTrace, or Grafana.
- Support disaster recovery, audits, and certificate renewals.
- Collaborate on application design, code deployments, and automation initiatives.
- Maintain documentation, runbooks, and dashboards for observability.
- Communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders, championing transparency.
Mandatory Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 6+ years of experience in Distributed Application Support.
- Hands-on expertise in Unix, Linux, Windows, and SQL/PLSQL.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., Oracle, DB2, Snowflake).
- Proficiency with container technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, DynaTrace, Grafana).
- Familiarity with scheduling tools (e.g., CA AutoSys, Control-M).
- Experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica Datahub/IDQ, Talend).
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mainframe support (e.g., COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2).
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, RDS Aurora).
- Middleware expertise (e.g., WebSphere, Tomcat, Kafka).
- Scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, Perl).
