JOB SUMMARY: The Senior Legal Counsel plays a key role in supporting all business units, including Commerce & Licensing, Consumer Experience, Creative and Marketing, Technology, and Back Office teams, to navigate and structure fair, advantageous agreements, evaluate and implement internal policies, and support leadership in calculated Risk vs. Reward opportunities. As a legal generalist, you will also help work with leadership to identify when it is appropriate to engage specialized outside counsel while leveraging guidance from legal-specialized board advisors. 

This role will report to our EVP of Operations, with close support from outside Legal Counsel.

• Draft, review, and support the negotiation of legal contracts, including but not limited to IP licensing, merchandising, content production, manufacturing, sponsorship, and other legal arrangements
• Provide legal counsel to business teams on licensing and consumer goods matters, including copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property considerations.
• Advise on business model compliance with all applicable regulations, including those in branded content, consumer goods sales, and other items requiring regulatory compliance.
• Develop and support content partnerships and licensing deals by working cross-functionally with the commerce, business development, and leadership teams.
• Identify potential legal risks in contracts and new business initiatives and advise stakeholders on mitigation strategies to minimize liability.
• Contract lifecycle management: Oversee and manage the lifecycle of agreements, from drafting to execution, including tracking renewals and updates.
• Stay updated on IP, entertainment, licensing, and securities law industry developments, ensuring compliance with industry best practices.

• J.D. degree from an accredited Law School and active membership in good standing with a state bar
• Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience in contract drafting and negotiating, IP licensing, entertainment, and/or consumer goods law.
• Strong understanding of Intellectual Property law, particularly copyright, trademark, and brand protection.
• Proactive and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability and comfort to support an early-stage, entrepreneurial, founder-led business in navigating new and innovative approaches to our industries
