Behavior Intervention Teacher (SY25-26, High School)

What You’ll Do

You will work with a small number of students requiring Tier 3 behavioral, social, and emotional support, delivering direct services while coordinating counseling and family services offered by school personnel and/or community partners. You will also be responsible for managing and supervising the school’s student support room and internal suspensions. Your duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reports to the Dean of Students
  • Works with a targeted caseload of students whose behavioral challenges surpass tier 1 and 2 supports, and significantly impede their success, and the success of their peers
  • Provides small group and individual coaching and support for students to develop a more productive mindset and the skills and habits to succeed within the classroom and in school activities and events
  • Develops and monitors individual goals (behavioral, social, and academic) for each student 
  • Gather, analyze, and share with students, families and staff student progress towards their intervention plan goals
  • Works closely with school and adjustment counselors, and with the school nurse, to ensure school services are coordinated and aligned.
  • Manage and supervise the student support room so that all relevant staff (assistant principals, dean of students, student success coaches) are able to lead assigned students through a reflection and repair process, and then productively engage in academic work 
  • Observe students in their Tier 1 classrooms and the general education setting, and share insights from those observations to inform ongoing work with students, families and staff
  • Works with the student success team in responding to classroom referrals, and the supervision of arrival/dismissal, transitions, lunches, and events and activities
  • In general, promote and celebrate positive student behaviors and, contribute to school events and activities that support a positive school culture

  • Two to three years of teaching experience (preferably at the secondary level)
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Have or be eligible for a MA teaching license
  • SEI endorsement within one year of employment
  • Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment

Veritas Prep offers competitive salaries and comprehensive benefit packages that include the following:

  • The salary range for this role is between $50,000 and $90,000, not including fringe benefits. It is pro-rated for a 12-month position and for the extra weeks of summer work an additional $5,000 to $8,000 will be provided.
    • If hired, your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, and/or experience.
    • In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as part of any final offer.
    • Keep in mind, the above range is the full base salary range for this position. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
