Job Summary 
YouthBuild Global seeks a detail-oriented individual with excellent writing and project management skills to support the growing institutional giving function within the organization’s Development team. Reporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Grants Manager will strengthen YouthBuild Global’s fundraising efforts through research, proposal development, and engagement of current and prospective public and private funders. Within a seasoned Development team of at least six staff and in collaboration with several other departments, the Grant Manager will partner with YouthBuild Global’s staff internally to develop funding requests, submit funding proposals and reports, engage funders through communications and meetings, track fundraising efforts and engagement, and support the overall growth of YouthBuild Global’s institutional pipeline through management of a distinct portfolio of funders. This role will help support the organization’s annual budget of ~$28M by contributing to the Development team’s growing annual fundraising goal. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities 

Help increase funding from public and private sources through the following duties: 

  • Advance the grant solicitation process by drafting proposals, concept papers, and LOIs; developing grant budgets in collaboration with the Fiscal team; and supporting follow-up with funders 
  • Create materials, such as slide decks, for funder meetings and communications 
  • Review RFPs and conduct research to help identify prospective funders, and prioritize realistic and high-value funding opportunities 
  • Gather information from internal teams to effectively describe the proposed activities and projected impact related to grant funding 
  • Maintain accurate records of funding partner contacts, grant deadlines, and funder communications within Salesforce CRM database 
  • Maintain organized grant files, including proposals, reports, and award letters, in Development team SharePoint 

 

Other Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Prepare accurate, timely grant reports for public and private funders, with support from other members of the Development team 
  • Coordinate execution of grant agreements and prepare grant award acknowledgements 
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications team to recognize funders and promote grant deliverables 
  • Support fundraising-related training and technical assistance offerings for YouthBuild program staff, as opportunities arise 
  • Participate in Development team staff meetings and Development Committee meetings 
  • Complete other duties, as assigned 

Education & Experience Required 

  • At least one year of grant writing, nonprofit development, or related professional experience 
  • Associates degree (or equivalent) or additional 1-2 years of professional experience 

 

Skills & Knowledge Required 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail 
  • Ability to work within diverse teams 
  • Proficiency with CRM database software and Microsoft Office software 
  • Understanding of grant budgets 
  • Strong organizational and project management skills 
  • Experience in youth development, workforce development, and/or education a plus but not required

Compensation

$65,000- $75,000/annual salary range. YouthBuild Global offers competitive salary and benefits, including health coverage, a 401(k) savings plan, life insurance, and disability benefits. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
