Job Description

▪ Strategy: 

  1. Define a holistic annual category strategy across key commercial dimensions to steer the category 
  2. Business, including a local campaign and promo plan. 
  3. Work with respective Country/Cluster Head to tie category strategy into the broader country / cluster 
  4. Plan for the year (incl. BU process, LE Forecasting, OBF strategy, and Promo Planning). 
  5. Collaborate with key central teams / departments (e.g., VM, Marketing, Pricing, CRM) to influence 
  6. Strategies and actions through local market category input.
  7. Obtain deep understanding of category dynamics (Customers, Market, Competitors...), identifying 
  8. Growth opportunities and blockers. 
  9. Continuously analyze main business KPIs across Sales/Category/Customer/Product dimensions and plan correcting actions.

▪ Pricing: 

  1. Recommends adjustments and exceptions of local prices on brand/product level, from defined global pricing strategy. Special focus on OBF, by defining the right sources of business.


▪ Promotions:

  1. Create a full-year promo plan accounting for category dynamics and relevancy, and align local actions with central promotions team (complementary to global central campaign calendar) and Country / Cluster Head. 
  2. Actively monitor campaign / promo performance and track budget spend vs. local plan. 
  3. Run topical/brand/product promotions on short notice depending on business need.

▪ Shelf management:

  1. Contribute to the business strategy and requirements to the Product team, for product sorting in PLP and search results, in coordination with the rest of Category Managers (through SME).
  2. Contribute to the business strategy and requirements to the Product team, for Up-selling and 
  3. Cross-selling through the product recommendation boxes, in coordination with the rest of the Category Managers (through SME). 
  4. Special focus on OBF visibility.
  5. Collaboration with Graphics and Shop OPS teams for category-related banners. 
  6. Provide inputs for a continuous QA process to Shop Operations and signs-off (if needed) any adjustment in the category content.

KPIs:

  1. Revenue (Net Sales) and margin (CM1) of the category, brands and products
  2. Share of wallet in the category (AOF, AOV, Volume)
  3. Customer acquisition and retention in the category (and specific key brands)
  4. Promo Spend and efficiency
  5. Availability and OOS of key brands/products (in collaboration with VM)
  6. Traffic and Conversion (in collaboration with Growth Manager and central teams)

This role will be based in our London office.

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in a business-related discipline
  • Relevant experience in a similar FMCG / e-Commerce environment, ideally within pet sector
  • Strong commercial and technical skills, with deep understanding of the different core business functions and how they work together
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills with the proven ability to influence at all business levels
  •  Ability to understand customer needs and market requirements as well as intuitive feeling for brands and trends 
  • Hard working, with a hands-on, results-focused approach
  • High analytical and numerical competency
