Staff Accountant

Reporting to the Accounting Supervisor, the primary goal of this role is to be responsible for all general ledger transactions, technical accounting matters, closing the books in an accurate and timely fashion as well as audit related deliverables at Little Sprouts and all subsidiaries.

• Assist in the preparation, reviewing, and analysis of the financial statements in a timely and accurate fashion on a monthly and annual basis in a fast paced environment with strict deadlines.
• Knowledge of financial statement preparation including profit & loss statement, balance sheet and statement of cash flows according to GAAP.
• Maintain prepaid expenses schedule and amortize expenses accurately over the relevant periods.
• Calculate and record monthly accruals for various expenses, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Participate in the annual audit, annual tax filings, and annual personal property tax filing processes.
• Participate in monthly flux analysis.
• Creating reports and updates based on data analysis in Microsoft Dynamics.
• Assisting with development, implementation, and review of fiscal policies and memos.
• Assist in special projects, including but not limited to IT initiatives and process improvements, to support the company’s growth.
• Interacts with management from within and outside of the accounting department to respond in an accurate and timely fashion to inquiries related to the group’s activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting. 
• 1-3 years or more of accounting knowledge or similar experience. 
• Knowledge of GAAP is required, and IFRS is a plus. 
• Above average system skills – preferred experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 365, Paylocity or ADP, advanced Excel, Procare AR, and billing systems. 
• Ability to roll up sleeves and be proactive to obtain needed information.  
• Strong verbal communication skills are required to communicate issues and give senior management concise, thoughtful updates. 
• Good people, team building, and leadership skills. 
• Intermediate technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

• Is able to work at least a full-time, 40-hour a week schedule, sometimes off-hours as the business requires (i.e., deadlines, networking events, conferences, business dinners, etc.).
• Is able to sit for long periods of time at a computer in a primarily sedentary position; manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
• Limited travel may be required (less than 10% of time), valid passport required.
