POSITION TITLE: HR Assistant
STATUS: Non-exempt
REPORTS TO: HR Manager
SALARY: $20.50-$22.50/hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Assist HR department on a variety of daily and operational responsibilities. Requires excellent verbal, written, phone, computer, and communication skills. Requires sitting at desk for long periods of time, computer, typing required. This position may fulfill the cell phone reimbursement policy requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES PERFORMED
● Assist HR Manager with administration of employee benefits, documentation/forms, health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance, AFLAC, EAP, FSA and other plans
● Maintain human resource policies for accuracy and compliance
● Assist with reference checks, onboarding and orientation of volunteers and new hires
● Respond to inquiries for employment references for voluntary resignations and verification of employment
● Assist with monthly benefit billing statements to ensure accuracy
● Notify employees of changes in benefit programs
● Work collaboratively with other staff to ensure that all new employees are orientated to the affiliate and its policies
● Communicate new hire information for the CalmAPP
● Maintain employee badge photos and name tags for new hires
● Maintain the phone list
● Keep inventory of orientation materials and swag
● Order New Hire Orientation supplies
● Staff announcements via HRIS
● Maintain Mineral platform
● Check HR fax daily and distribute appropriately
● Attend all assigned meetings and trainings
● Must be willing to travel to all locations at least once per year
● Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s Degree in administration, human resources, compliance or health related field required. Background in educational setting, volunteer, social service or health agency preferred. SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
Minimum of 3 years human resource experience, preferably in a multi-site organization. Experience in health care, staffing, training, organizational development and google workspace preferred.
Demonstrated ability to appropriately handle complex and confidential information. Ability to communicate policy interpretations and decisions effectively to a diverse audience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as compliance regulations, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to produce routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with employees in the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
