Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Product Manager to join our team on a contract basis. The role focuses on delivering excellent product outcomes while working with the agile delivery team and stakeholders across the Government service. The service is currently in Public Beta phase.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Feature Management:

  • Lead feature prioritisation and capability planning across product and sprint backlogs
  • Manage and iterate features based on user research, stakeholder needs and design input
  • Identify and evaluate emerging features beyond MVP for backlog inclusion
  • Drive strategic prioritisation decisions within the product backlog

User Needs & Research:

  • Collaborate with User Researchers to comprehensively understand end-to-end user experiences across all channels
  • Develop and execute testing plans for backlogged features and improvements
  • Set direction for service improvements based on user insights
  • Define feature scope and prioritisation criteria

Product Ownership & Problem Management:

  • Identify and escalate problems to programme leadership
  • Prioritise issues within the product backlog
  • Develop approaches to overcome delivery challenges and blockers
  • Interface with other discovery projects as needed

Product Management & Roadmap Development:

  • Create and maintain clear, stakeholder-friendly product roadmaps
  • Establish and track OKRs aligned with organisational priorities
  • Lead sprint planning and road mapping sessions
  • Manage emerging requirements and their integration into existing roadmaps

Performance Measurement & Reporting:

  • Set and track measurable goals for products and features
  • Maintain regular stakeholder engagement and progress updates
  • Lead show and tell sessions
  • Contribute to sprint retrospectives

 

Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Proven track record in Agile and Lean practices
  • Experience with GDS principles and government sector projects
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability in product roadmap development and management
  • Experience in setting and tracking product metrics
  • Background in user-centered design and research integration

Nice to Have:

  • Civil Service project experience
  • Experience with assisted digital users
  • Previous contracting experience in government digital projects
