We think you’ll appreciate our focus on Conscious Capitalism, which drives business decisions that benefit all our stakeholders (leading to even better business results). You might be drawn to our innovative approach and refusal to settle for the “way things have always been done.” Or you could find it exciting to grow your skills while working for an industry-leading brand. Whether you’re into our values, our brand, or our egg-cellent puns, we hope you’ll join our Crew and help us change the world 108 square feet at a time!

At Vital Farms, we are proud of our incredible stakeholders, and the diversity they represent from all areas and communities in which we operate and serve. We view this as a source of strength for us and your job is to help us make it even better.

Your Role:

Reporting to the Director of Farm Network Expansion Strategy, the Pullet Farmer Recruiting Manager is a key player in building the future of Vital Farms. You’ll be responsible for recruiting dedicated and passionate new farmers to retrofit their existing poultry barns for state-of-the-art pullet production. These pullets will grow into the laying hens that form the backbone of our network of caring family farms. When you connect with someone who’s enthusiastic about sustainable agriculture and animal welfare, you’ll introduce them to the Vital Farms way—ensuring they have everything they need to be successful from day one. Additionally, you’ll work closely with our construction partners to oversee barn retrofits that meet our rigorous standards for quality and ethics.

What You'll Do:

  • Build a Pullet Farmer Pipeline:
    • Connect Locally: Seek out potential pullet farmers within 100 miles of our Missouri and Arkansas locations through community meetings, local/regional events, and strategic partnerships with marketing and financial institutions.
    • Network & Nurture: Collaborate with our Lead Generation Specialist to track and manage a robust pipeline of qualified leads.
  • Engage & Onboard Farmers:
    • Host Community Meetings: Organize and lead sessions with prospective farmers to walk them through our end-to-end recruiting and onboarding process.
    • Property Assessments: Visit potential farmers’ properties to ensure their land meets our internal standards for retrofitting barns into pullet production facilities.
    • Support Through Sales Cycle: Guide farmers from the initial introduction right through to contract signing, ensuring they understand how producing quality pullets today supports the future of our laying hen network.
  • Coordinate Barn Retrofitting:
    • Collaborate on Construction: Work hand-in-hand with our trusted construction partners to schedule, manage, and oversee the barn retrofitting process.
    • Maintain Quality: Ensure that every retrofit project is completed on time, within budget, and in strict adherence to our high standards for animal welfare and sustainable production.
    • Facilitate Communication: Act as the primary liaison between recruited farmers and construction teams, addressing challenges and ensuring seamless project execution.
  • Facilitate Financial & Administrative Processes:
    • Assist with Financing: Support farmers through the loan application process, securing grants, and navigating other financial mechanisms necessary to fund their retrofit projects.
    • Documentation & Follow-Up: Collaborate with the Lead Generation Specialist to ensure that all paperwork is completed and stored properly, maintaining an accurate system of record.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement:
    • Feedback Loop: Keep the farmer’s experience front and center by relaying process improvements and opportunities for growth to the Director of Farm Network Expansion Strategy.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or related field; will consider experience as substitute for education
  • 5+ years of relevant experience within the poultry or agricultural industry, with a strong background in recruiting and sales.
  • Must be comfortable traveling up to 75% of the time for meetings, events, and site visits.
  • Must be located in Missouri and Arkansas
  • Deep knowledge of poultry farming practices, barn operations, and retrofitting processes.
  • Familiarity with the financial lending process (e.g., FSA), agricultural grants, and local regulatory challenges.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills—you know how to connect with people and earn their trust.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset: you don’t wait to be asked to solve a problem.
  • Strong networking abilities and community ties in your region.
  • You’re a team player who celebrates collective success while taking ownership of your responsibilities.
  • You have a genuine passion for sustainable agriculture and ethical animal care.
  • Flexibility and adaptability are in your DNA—you bring a sense of urgency without sacrificing thoughtful customer service.
  • You’re no hero – You know the power of teamwork and celebrate the work of others before your own.
  • You give a sh*t – You believe in acting like an owner and making Vital Farms a place to be proud of.
  • You raise the standards – You know growth can be hard, but you strive to improve yourself and others each day.
  • You can walk in someone else’s boots – You seek to understand other’s viewpoints and think that you get to better answers by sitting on the same side of the table.
  • You don’t walk on eggshells – You’re not afraid to leave the bullsh*t behind and have honest conversations.

What We Bring to the Table:

  • A fast-paced, energetic, remote environment with passionate people who are leading a movement to bring ethically produced food to the table.
  • Competitive pay and benefits (Medical, Dental, Vision, and Paid Parental Leave, just to name a few).
  • Generous retirement contributions: 401(k) + 3% Contribution from Day 1.
  • Annual bonus and equity grant (subject to business results and company approval)
  • Free eggs and butter, along with friends and family discounts.
  • Fun team SWAG that will make you the talk of the town.
  • Professional development opportunities and an amazing team dedicated to your growth.
