Job Overview

The Automation Support Engineer will play a critical role in supporting and optimizing the portfolio of automation solutions deployed across the enterprise. This position requires close collaboration with IT operations, development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure operational excellence, minimize disruptions, and maximize value delivery. The engineer will manage system changes, execute break-fix solutions, address user requests, and continuously improve the performance and reliability of automation systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing support for automation operations, including system maintenance, code updates, and handling user change requests to ensure minimal downtime and swift issue resolution.
  • Oversee and optimize on-production automation solutions, including RPA bots, Power Apps, Power Automate, and other low-code solutions, ensuring their reliability and efficiency.
  • Take ownership of troubleshooting issues through to resolution, ensuring accountability and clear communication throughout the process. Debug across multiple languages and frameworks, including Python, SQL, HTML, and APIs, to identify and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
  • Continuously monitor and evaluate automation performance, identifying opportunities for improvement to reduce downtime, streamline issue resolution, and optimize system efficiency. Strengthen monitoring and logging frameworks to enable proactive detection, faster troubleshooting, and seamless operational continuity.
  • Work closely with IT operations, development teams, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives, optimize workflows, and promote operational excellence.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for communicating maintenance schedules, system updates, downtime notifications, and progress reports to business users.
  • Empower business users and citizen developers to utilize low-code platforms effectively for self-service automation by providing training, best practices, and ongoing support.
  • Review, create, and maintain project and process documentation, including workflow diagrams, operational guides, and technical manuals. Document processing logic, configuration details, and standard operating procedures to ensure clarity and consistency across automation solutions.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT operations, software development, or business process automation roles.
  • Hands-on experience with low-code and RPA tools (e.g., Automation Anywhere), Microsoft Power Platform, and performance monitoring tools.
  • Strong understanding of IT architecture principles and software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Proven track record in managing and optimizing automation solutions in production environments.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, IT staff, and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
  • Demonstrated project experience in building and managing solutions on low-code platforms, including designing workflows and automating tasks.
  • Proficiency in monitoring and analyzing process execution metrics to ensure reliability, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Experience with ticketing platforms and service ticket management (e.g., ServiceNow).
