The Opportunity

This 12-month fixed-term contract is a unique opportunity to support a world-class R&D team during a pivotal year for Slice. With significant growth and innovation ahead in 2025, you’ll play a key role in ensuring a positive employee experience and providing hands-on HR support. As the sole HRBP in the UK, you’ll not only partner with R&D teams globally but also handle local UK HR matters

The Role

As an R&D HR Business Partner, you will play a key role in providing hands-on HR support to employees and managers, ensuring a positive and engaging workplace experience. Partnering closely with R&D teams, you’ll assist with day-to-day HR needs, including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and total rewards. You’ll support managers in handling people-related challenges, offering guidance on policies, best practices, and employee well-being. Your role will focus on fostering a supportive work environment, ensuring compliance, and helping employees navigate their development and career growth.

The Winning Recipe

We’re seeking an HR Business Partner with strong consultative skills, a keen eye for detail, and a passion for navigating the fast-paced, ever-evolving startup environment; someone who’s ready to adapt and contribute wherever needed. You’ll also have:

  • At least 3 years of experience as an HR Business Partner, ideally in a tech or fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Broad HR expertise across key areas such as employee relations, performance management, compensation, onboarding, diversity and inclusion, culture and engagement, and UK employment law (including NI regulations).
  • Proven ability to coach, advise, and support managers and employees on HR matters, helping to navigate challenges with confidence.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess situations quickly and implement practical, people-focused solutions.
  • Hands-on and results-oriented, with excellent planning and execution skills to deliver meaningful HR support.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration across all levels of the organisation.
  • Skilled at building trust and strong relationships in a short timeframe, creating a positive and approachable HR presence.
  • Committed to confidentiality and discretion, ensuring a trusted and safe HR function.

The Hiring Process

Here’s what we expect the hiring process for this role to be, should all go well with your candidacy. This entire process is expected to take 1-3 weeks to complete and you’d be expected to start on a specific date.

  • 30 minute introductory meeting with your recruiter
  • 30 minute meeting with a Senior HRBP
  • 2 x 30 minute meetings with People Leaders
  • 30 min meeting with Head of R&D
