Director of Accounting - Non Profit

Are you a mission-driven financial leader with a strong background in nonprofit accounting and financial reporting? We are seeking an experienced Director of Accounting to oversee budgeting, financial operations, and reporting for a renowned charitable organization in Rochester, NY. This role also provides financial leadership to its largest agency, Family and Community Services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance with nonprofit regulations (Federal & NY State).
  • Lead the monthly and annual closing process and prepare financial statements for the CEO, Board, and Finance Committee.
  • Manage audits, external financial reports, and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide financial leadership for the Adult Guardianship Program and oversee funder voucher submissions.
  • Drive process improvements, financial policies, and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business (Master’s or CPA preferred).
  • 10+ years of nonprofit finance experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in GAAP, financial analysis, and revenue cycle management.
  • Proven ability to lead teams, drive financial strategy, and collaborate with senior leadership.
