Sr. Specialist, Trade & Distribution

The Specialist/Sr Specialist Distribution Operations will be a key contributor in distribution operations for the company.  Role will have cross functional work responsibility across Apellis brands.  The Specialist/Sr. Specialist will ensure operational efficiencies of our approved drugs to treat patients with GA (Geographic Atrophy) and with PNH (Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria), a rare blood disorder. Role will continue to grow enhanced service offerings to meet the needs of our complex marketplace.  May also be tasked with distribution initiatives associated with new C3G and ICPMG indications.  The position involves working closely with other members of the commercial team, including Sales, Patient Services, Marketing, Value Access and Pricing (VAP), and commercial operations, as well as other cross-functional partners including manufacturing/supply chain, finance, and legal.  Support of current and future pipeline assets.  This is an individual contributor role with a collaborative team mindset. 

Key responsibilities

  • Day-to-day operational support for Specialty Distribution and Specialty Pharmacy Partners.
  • Support Distribution Team leads for Apellis products.
  • Program management (For new and existing)
  • Enhanced Program development to support channel.
  • Specialty Distribution/Specialty Pharmacy ordering oversight and inventory management.
  • Program management & customer service operational oversight including interpreting and assessing distribution data to ensure compliance.
  • Work closely with Value Access and Pricing (VAP), cross-functional team and Finance to ensure appropriate distribution inputs into P&L.
  • Work effectively with internal stakeholders, such as Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, IT, Legal, and Finance, to ensure success of T& D operations.
  • Monitor sales trends on an ongoing basis to assess progress to annual goals.
  • Clearly communicate the progress of weekly/monthly/quarterly initiatives to Sr Director & Associate Director, on performance of distribution partners.
  • Reconciliation and review of SD or SP data to ensure optimal channel management.
  • New customer setup and item setup
  • Cross functional communication with field teams.
  • Compendia partner notifications as needed
  • This contributes to the development of compliant solutions to address trade channel challenges across various stakeholders.
  • Retain up to date insights into national, local and/or regional changes, trends of other activities that may impact channel and account strategy.
  • Returned Goods Management.

Education and Experience

  • BA/BS required.
  • Five or more years of experience in complex operational roles
  • Three to five years of experience in complex customer-faced roles. preferred oncology, rare diseases, Retina, Nephrology.
  • Three years of US trade/channel or patient services experience or managing advanced programs. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Reimbursement experience in Buy and Bill a plus
  • Understanding of Pharmacy vs Medical Benefit adjudication

  • Strong ability to execute on vision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills and presentation development
  • Able to communicate effectively with different levels as well as with peers.

  • It has orientation with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
