Job Description

The EMS Training Officer is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating the training programs for EMS personnel. This role ensures that all EMS staff are adequately prepared to provide high-quality emergency medical services in accordance with current medical protocols and standards. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor a comprehensive EMS training program that meets the needs of the department and complies with national and contractual standards. 
  • Conduct weekly training sessions, workshops, and simulations to ensure all EMS personnel maintain high levels of competency in medical procedures, equipment operation, and emergency response techniques. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through assessments, feedback, and performance data; adjust training strategies as needed to improve outcomes. 
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in emergency medical services, including innovations in medical care, training methodologies, and relevant legislation. 
  • Collaborate with the EMS Chief and Deputy Chief to identify training needs and prioritize training initiatives. 
  • Oversee the certification and recertification processes for all EMS personnel, ensuring compliance with national and international regulatory requirements. 
  • Manage the EMS training budget, including the procurement of training materials and equipment. 
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for EMS personnel, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth and development. 
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities to enhance the overall effectiveness of EMS services. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the EMS Chief and Deputy Chief.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Knowledge 

  • Strong clinical skills. 
  • Ability to provide competent, comprehensive care under stressful situations. 
  • Ability to recognize limitations and areas of self-development through reflection. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding deadlines. 
  • Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Demonstrated experience in executive level interpersonal skills and ability to work in a matrix environment. 
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Experience on a military site, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor preferred. 

Education Required: 

  • Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in emergency medical services, education, or related field.  
  • Current certification as a Nationally Registered Paramedic. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in emergency medical services and 2 years of experience in EMS Education. 
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering EMS training programs. 
  • Preferred instructor certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Prehospital Trauma Life support (PHTLS), and Advanced medical Life Support (AMLS).  If these instructor certifications are not current, currency will be obtained within 90 days. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be physically capable of performing all duties and responsibilities assigned, including the ability to perform physically demanding training activities.  
  • Must be able to pass a Mod 17 physical and dental exam. 

Other Special Qualifications: 

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate 
  • This position is unaccompanied. No pets. 
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is preferred.   
  • US DOS clearance or the ability to obtain one is required. 
  • Must be able to relocate to project.  
  • A valid passport from country of record is required and must be in your possession prior to relocation. You must maintain a current passport during your stay. 

Additional Information

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. 

Salary: Min $95,000 / Max $110,000

Benefits – Full-time positions are eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance.
